The song was written shortly before the singer had an accidental overdose in July 2018. Getting emotional on stage, Lovato suffocated to sing the first line and broke down in tears after which she gathered all her strength to restart the track. The song’s lyrics were centered on how the singer tried to talk to the piano, the guitar, and her imagination, and got surrendered to alcohol. Extremely honest and heartfelt, the song went forward to reveal how the singer was feeling stupid about no one listening to her.
