Celebrities come forward to donate for the betterment of the COVID-19 pandemic

The outbreak of COVID-19 has made the world miserable, with as many as 1,432,154 worldwide cases, among which 82,101 have died, and 302,247 have been recovered. This pandemic has hit the world so hard that even the strongest economies and most developed healthcare systems of the world are suffering. With the entire world looking forward to a grave economic crisis, many companies, organizations, individuals, and celebrities have come forward to stretch their hands and make some contributions to the betterment of the world.

The entertainment industry is also under the lockdown, with so many events, award shows, movie releases, and musical tours being postponed or canceled.

Many celebrities have donated to make sure that the less fortunate can avail of all the necessary things amidst the pandemic. As shared by the rappers’ REFORM Alliance, they are going to donate more than 130,000 masks to the frontline workers of the correctional facilities, correctional officers, and the inmates.

The famous American rapper Megan Thee Stallion pledged to help the citizens of her hometown through donations to Houston’s HMG Healthcare Foundation. Elton John shared that his foundation will now be helping the communities with their dedicated COVID-19 emergency fund.

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift also came out with open hands and paid for the health insurance for three months for the staff of Grimey’s, a Nashville Record Store and also made some undisclosed donations. She has also helped her fans with cash donations and donated to Feeding America, the food bank charity.

Dolly Parton sent money to Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center for the research of coronavirus vaccine. Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson expressed their gratitude for the health workers by bringing in 20 tacos to their local hospital.

Lady Gaga shared on her Twitter profile that she made a donation to America’s Food Fund to make sure those in need do not live unfed.

John Mayer, the singer cum songwriter donated to the Livingston Healthcare Foundation for the purchase of ventilators and other equipment.

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy also made an announcement on 3rd April about their donation of $100,000 to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund.

Billy Joel’s Joel Foundation made its first donation of $500,000 for the purchase of personal protective equipment.

Jay-Z and Rihanna pledged to donate $1 million each through The Shawn Carter Foundation and The Clara Lionel Foundation respectively. Rihanna also donated $5 million to various organizations.

Apart from these, Selene Gomez, Shawn Mendes, James Taylor, G-Eazy, Kip Moore, Ricky Martin, Ciara, Russell Wilson, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Timberlake, Blake Lively, and many others contributed to cope up with the situation and make it better.
