H.E.R chose the graceful Roxie Theatre in Los Angeles for an intimate rendition of her new music release ‘Damage’. The video finally premiered on youtube on Wednesday, October 21.
The elfin R&B singer gets back to the stage of the LA venue (different from the Roxy Venue on the Sunset Strip) and directs to decorate it with sophisticated lamps and beautiful greenery that project the decorous entity of her and her bandmates while they perform. It is a soft track with oscillating reverbs that features background vocals from Ant Clemons, who also co-wrote it.
In the intro, she sings, “Holdin’ me tight, lovin’ me right, givin’ me life/ All night you could be (You could be)/ Tellin’ me lies, makin’ me cry, wastin’ my time/ The whole time, so just be/ Careful what you take for granted, yeah/ ‘Cause with me know you could do damage.”
She drew inspiration from the classic 1980s record “Making Love in the Rain” by Herb Alpert, Lisa Keith, and Janet Jackson to get the theme of the new video.
Her new studio album from MBK Entertainment/RCA Records is in the pipeline and ‘Damage’ carries the trails of its essence.
She is going to be the main attraction of Saturday Night Live this week. It’s her debut on SNL as the musical guest. Adele will be hosting the show ad she will make it a night to remember. “I love her SO much I can’t wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs, then confuse myself while I laugh my arse off in between it all,” Adele wrote on her Instagram announcement this week.
“Damage” follows H.E.R.’s riveting protest anthem “I Can’t Breathe” and her reggae-inspired track, “Do To Me.”
