A former professional wrestler, Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister who was popular among the masses for his bullying character ‘Deebo’ in the well-known ‘Friday’ films breathed his last and passed away at the age of 62.
Cindy Cowan, who was the manager for Lister said that he was found unconscious at his residence in Marina Del Ray in California on Thursday afternoon. He has been pronounced dead at that very scene.
Cowan has mentioned that earlier this year Lister has been diagnosed with Covid-19.
She also added that he overcame the virus but about a week ago he became sick and had breathing trouble recently.
The real cause of his demise is not released and the office of coroner is investigating.
According to Cowan, he was a gentle giant and had a broad smile on his face always. She said that everybody is devastated to hear about his death and he is going to be missed by many people.
Lister was a pro-wrestler while he was starting in his career and was 6 feet and 5 inches tall and had broad shoulders weighing 275 pounds. He appeared in the HBO football series ‘1st and Ten’ and appeared in the movie ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’ that starred Eddy Murphy and also in the 1989 film ‘No Holds Barred’ where his brilliant character Zeus had challenged Hulk Hogan as part of a wrestling match.
The actor who is blind in one eye from birth had also taken on Hogan in a real wrestling match in the WWF after the release of the film ‘No Holds Barred’. Under the name Z-Gangsta, he also had a brief stint at the World Championship Wrestling.
His most notable role was in ‘Friday’ released in 1995 and also worked in the sequel that came out five years later. The role of Deebo was portrayed by him who was a felon known as one of the neighborhood bullies who was intimidating and fearful and terrorized the neighbors.
His famous line from the movie was ‘Get knocked out like your father used to’.
A lot of his fans and celebrity’s expressed their grief over his demise. He came up with some powerful performances in movies like ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’, ‘The Dark Night’ and ‘The Fifth element’.
