5 Metallica Albums Featured in the Top Best-Selling Vinyl Albums in the U.S. This Week

The iconic band Metallica sets yet another record in the history of modern music with five albums that are featured in the top best-selling vinyl albums in the U.S.

5 Metallica Albums

Band Metallica has secured the top five positions in the countdown led by Billboard’s vinyl chart. The credit goes to the band’s six new vinyl reissues of their albums at Walmart. The news marks a historic feat by a single artist to have claimed all the top five slots of vinyl sales chart since they first debuted back in 2011. The five Metallica Long Plays or LPs that are featured on the chart includes:

Riding The Lightning (1984)

Metallica (1991)

…And Justice For All (1988)

Kill ‘Em All (1983)

Master of Puppets (1986)

All these albums along with another record, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct hit the Walmart stores on the 29th of January.

Back in 2014, the band remastered and re-released its back catalog under their own production label, Blackened Recordings.

In an interview dated back in 2018 with the drummer of the band, Lars Ulrich, he shared his views about why vinyl holds a special place in his heart. He shared that he still has all his old records and that he occasionally takes them out. He said that this entire practice has a nostalgic undertone to it. There is no other reason for this but to enjoy some music, and sit and relax in one’s own space and thoughts.

James Hetfield in an interview with Red Bull back in 2017 also shared his immense liking for vinyl. Not only did he grow up listening to vinyl, but the whole process of playing a song and blending into the groove is also an experience on its own.

He shared anecdotes from about six months ago when he was in L.A. and he was visiting his old high-school friends. The warmth of vinyl brought the entire group together.

Metallica introduced its own Vinyl Club last year as a subscription-based service that provides vinyl versions of rare cuts, rough mixes, demos, lives, and other things. These things were never offered on vinyl before.

In a press conference, the band shared that the experience of sharing vinyl with the audience has made them come close to their fans. All those who enjoy the sonic warmth will find a whole new experience with the new release.
