“For me, “Champagne” is not just another drinking song. This is a song of victory and a song of overcoming hardships. It’s a new birth and realization of the healing that comes after heartache. I’m grateful for what this past year has taught me and for celebrating my own breakthroughs. This is a song of new beginnings to appreciate and celebrate surviving some of life’s toughest moments. I think there is beauty in the storms and growth through the pain, and this song is a perfect depiction of the last year of my life that enabled me to move forward. I wrote this the morning after Hurricane Eta hit Key West, FL, and I was just praying for God to let me survive another one of life’s unexpected curveballs, previously shaken by surviving Nashville’s 2020 tornado. The next day, I sat down with tears of sorrow and strength, and shed the old, with a bottle of champagne, and wrote this song to heal. It was time. This song made me realize how important it is to love myself no matter what I am going through or what I have been through. I learned if you’re not in a healthy relationship, it’s okay to get out and leave, and we only get one life, so embrace the good and learn from the bad. This song celebrates my imperfections, the mistakes of the past, and allows me to forgive myself and have a clean slate. I think we all need to celebrate making it through 2020 and after surviving a tornado, hurricane, massive heartbreak, and a pandemic, so I’m raising my glass to love myself, and I hope you will love this video and song as much as I do! Pinkies Up!”
