Late rapper Pop Smoke’s newly released song ‘AP’ is making extensive waves of audience engagement. The song is part of the movie Boogie directed by Eddie Huang. The song will appear on the upcoming soundtrack of the movie as well.

The song also marks the late artist’s posthumous acting debut. He plays the character of Monk who is one of the basketball rivals of the protagonist character who dreams big of playing in the NBA in the coming-of-age movie. The movie is set to hit the theatres on the 5th of March.

The song ‘AP’ was released across all digital streaming platforms on February 26th, Friday. The song resonates with the typical Brooklyn drill and comprises the artist’s signature grit and growl alongside heavy base-influences beat and grim. The video for the song showcases footage from the movie featuring the artist along with photos from behind-the-scenes.

The film stars actors such as Taylor Takahashi, Taylour Paige, Pamelyn Chee, Mike Moh, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Alexa Mareka, Perry Yung, and Pop Smoke. The story revolves around Alfred ‘Boogie’ Chin who is a talented basketball player hailing from Queens, New York City. He has big aspirations of playing for the NBA. But he faces hurdles with his parents who want him to pursue a scholarship and college rather than playing basketball professionally. It is the story of Boogie who navigates through his intra-personal relationships, his rivals, school, parents’ expectations, and more.

The trailer for the movie came out only last month.

Pop Smoke’s album, ‘Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon’ was released last summer which was followed by a special edition version. The album rapidly moved up in the Rolling Stone Top 200 Album chart to the Number One position. The album also marked a huge feat as the third biggest-selling albums of last year.

The late artist was shot and killed in Los Angeles just a little over a year ago. However, he has left a legacy in the world of hip hop that will be celebrated and cherished by his fans from all around the world. Listen to his new song right now on Spotify.
