ORKESTRA

Daily Music Roll: Hello, ORKESTRA! Thank you for taking the time to participate in this interview. What’s new with you these days?

ORKESTRA: Thank you for having me, as far as music goes not a whole lot, I’m just focusing on my music production and learning and improving on it as much as I can. I’m also in third level education in Ireland which takes up a lot of my time but I always make time for my music.

Daily Music Roll: How do you feel about the current situation?

ORKESTRA: The current situation is tough for all types of musicians, for myself I haven’t been affected as much as most as I’m still an up and coming artist and relatively new to the industry of music. What I would say is the pandemic has given me more time to focus on my producing and constantly learning to get better at it which I get a lot of enjoyment from.

Daily Music Roll: What are the actions you need to take to deal with this tumultuous situation?

ORKESTRA: I suppose for me just continuing to focus on getting better every day at home producing if I can, for what it seems it looks like we’re on the last stretch of the pandemic which everyone in the world has been affected by not just musicians. People have lost jobs, businesses shutting down, and losing family and friends to covid, the most important thing is people’s health and we should all be doing our bit to help each other.

Daily Music Roll: Let’s speak about your new single, which came out three months ago. How did you come up with the term ‘Reptilian’?

ORKESTRA: Reptilian is a name I just came up with on the spot really, it doesn’t have too much meaning behind it as a name, but it was what I felt went with how the song sounded and made me feel and I’m happy with how it turned out. There is more to come of course!

Daily Music Roll: Which one song has risen to the top of your list as your current favorite?

ORKESTRA: Without a doubt I think there is only one answer to that question, Westpark Hustle, easily my most viewed song on all my platforms, it is surreal to think it has over thirteen thousand views on soundcloud as of now, considering I came up with the main idea for that tune in a day or so. The support I received from that song was a different level.

Daily Music Roll: What is the overall project’s theme? How did you come up with the concept of ‘Reptilian’?

ORKESTRA: I’m always thinking of ideas and sometimes they just come to you out of nowhere, and that’s how my last release came about. I was just watching the football on the tv one day and the melody for that tune stuck in my head, then I got my laptop and midi keyboard out and started playing around with the notes of the melody and went from there.

Daily Music Roll: How do you think your fans will react to the new single?

ORKESTRA: So far it has been good, like I’ve said I’m still new to the scene, I’ve goals I still want to reach, and I’m not waiting around for opportunities to present themselves I’ve been DJing and producing for 2 years now at least working hard at it, I feel I’m ready now to play big events in the techno and house scene. I back my own ability to perform at festivals and clubs and from that exposure I believe I will gain a much bigger following.

Daily Music Roll: The musicians have had a difficult time. Any word that expresses your support for the radical brotherhood of independent musicians is welcome.

ORKESTRA: We’re near the end of this horrible pandemic now, there is light at the end of the tunnel, from my point of view I’m just keeping the head down and focused on improving myself at music, practice mixing, producing or even just picking up a guitar.

Daily Music Roll: Your audience is interested in learning more about your extreme type of artwork. How did you get your inexhaustible love for trap and techno music?

ORKESTRA: I didn’t always love techno music it was my friends at first who got me interested in it, it took some time but I eventually found myself listening to it everyday. I’ve always loved many types of music and wanted to pursue something within music, but it wasn’t until I travelled abroad to Hideout festival in Croatia with four of my friends where I got a real taste for underground electronic music, live and in front of thousands of people. That’s when it clicked for me I remember saying to myself in my head, ok this is what I want to do and work towards.

Daily Music Roll: What is the source of your music’s euphoria?

ORKESTRA: For me, music is a huge part of my life and it makes me happy to be able to make my own material, everyone has things in life that make them happy. I also set high standards for myself, I want to make sure I’m happy with my work before I release it, even looking back at some of my older material and thinking how I could have done better. I always have some of my friends listen to my work before I consider releasing it, they give me honest feedback which is the way I want it to be.

Daily Music Roll: What do you consider to be the characteristics of a successful artist?

ORKESTRA: It’s the same as being successful in anything, a lot of hard work and dedication, I don’t claim to be an expert but to look at where I started to now around eighteen months later is huge and starting to get that little bit recognition for my hard work in such a short time, especially during the pandemic which makes it much more difficult, it’s amazing and I appreciate all the support I do receive. Along with hard work and dedication, to be successful I feel it’s also important to be original and to not care what people think of you or how they might perceive you, just do what makes you happy and keep your ideas as original as possible!

Daily Music Roll: Are you planning any upcoming tours? What’s next for you now that you’ve published the new single almost three months ago: additional releases or a trip to another country?

ORKESTRA: I have been approached to play smaller festivals, I’m just off the back of playing for a live radio station which was a great experience, but it does make it harder with the pandemic, I’ll see what happens in the future when everything is back to normal I’m keeping an open mind. I’ve some more music I am releasing very shortly that I’m looking forward to sharing, I would say I’ve another three maybe four releases at least before the year is out so I’m keeping busy, and like I’ve said I’m ready to play sets live in front of crowds so you never know.
