FBI has arrested American rapper Fetty Wap on federal drug charges. The news has been confirmed by a senior law enforcement official.

Born as Willie Junior Maxwell II, the 30-year-old artist pleaded not guilty to the case. He was granted no bail at a virtual hearing on Friday, reports say. Elizabeth Macedonio, the attorney listed for him did not make a comment on the matter.

The law enforcement officials revealed that the rapper was arrested at Citi Field in Queens. The Rolling Loud music festival was held there on Thursday.

Not just the rapper but six more people were charged in the case. The other accused in the case are Kavaughn Wiggins, 26 and Anthony Leonardi, 47, of Coram, New York, his brother Robert Leonardi, 26, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, New Jersey correction officer Anthony Cyntje, 23, of Passaic, and Brian Sullivan, 26, of Lake Grove.

They are said to run a ‘multimillion-dollar bicoastal drug distribution organization’. The home base of their operation in Suffolk County said county District Attorney Timothy Sini.

The press release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office ran their operation from June 2019 to June 2020. They used to get the drugs from West Coast and transport them to Suffolk County through postal services and drivers who had hidden vehicle compartments.

They then distributed the drugs to dealers, who then sold them in New Jersey and Long Island. Five of the six accused had been using firearms to run a smooth drug distribution organization.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Breon Peace, transported, distributed, and sold over 100 kilograms of drugs in Long island and it had an impact on the opioid Epidemic that destroyed the communities there. During the investigation, the law enforcement obtained nearly $1.5 million in cash, 2 kilograms of heroin, a lot of fentanyl pills, 16 kilograms of cocaine, a pistol, a rifle, and ammunition.

All the accused can get a maximum of life in prison if their crime gets proved. Fetty Wap’s lawyer Navarro Gray said it was all a big misunderstanding and he hopes everything gets cleared soon.

The ‘Trap Queen’ rapper was also arrested before in 2017 for a DUI after the police found him drag racing on a highway in New York City and in on three counts of battery in 2019.

His 4-year-old daughter Lauren Maxwell died very recently this summer.
