The Recording Academy announced the list of the 2022 Grammy Awards nominees

The complete list of the 64th Grammy Awards nominees has been announced this Tuesday. The most popular artists of today such as Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Japanese Breakfast, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Jon Batiste, Caroline Shaw, Arooj Aftab, Fleet Foxes, Low, and many more are nominated. The upcoming Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on January 31st next year and it will be broadcast live on CBS.

There have been a lot of changes made in the upcoming Grammys by the Recording Academy. The institution announced in April that it will take down the practice of secret-committee nominations in the Big Four categories. It has also come up with two new awards for Música Urbana Album and Global Music Performance. The Recording Academy has updated its rules and guidelines. They have banned the practice of mentioning the chart numbers and sales figures in ‘For Your Consideration’ ads. They have expanded the voting pool to add the votes from ‘traditionally underrepresented groups and the show will be produced by an inclusion rider.

The Recording Academy has also appointed a new president and CEO, Harvey Manson jr., who had been serving the post on a short-term basis previously after former Grammy chief Deborah Dugan stepped down. She had been placed on administrative leave a few days before the 2020 Grammy Awards. After a legal dispute, Dugan and the Recording Academy made a settlement this summer.

Last year, Beyoncé made history by becoming the first female artist with the most Grammys with her Best R&B Performance award for ‘Black Parade’. In the 2021 Grammys, the Weeknd declared that he will be boycotting the event after ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘After Hours’ did not receive a single nomination. This year he got a total of three nominations.

After the Grammy nomination was announced. Taylor Swift said that she will not submit her first re-recorded album, ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ for consideration. He has decided to put her focus on ‘Evermore’. 2020 single, ‘WAP‘ by Cardi B and Megan The Stallion was withheld from the Grammy nominations in 2021. The song has been submitted for the 2022 Grammys as a part of the campaign for Cardi B’s highly anticipated second album that was never materialized. ‘Star-Crossed’ by Kacey Musgraves was pronounced ineligible for nomination in the country music categories. ‘Camera Roll’ got nominations in two country music categories.
