Padma Shri Awards: Legendary Singer Sonu Nigam is Receiving Padma Shri Award

The Government of India has declared its list of recipients of Padma awards for which the participants are eagerly waiting. It is one of the highest civilian awards of India which is considered to be the highest respect as well.

The Government has decided to award Padma Shri to the legendary playback singer of Bollywood, none other than Sonu Nigam.

However, he is not the only one as Olympian gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will be receiving the award as well. Other Olympians namely, Vandana Kataria and Pramod Bhagat are also included in the list.

On the evening of the 73rd Republic Day of India, The Home Ministry has announced the list of the Padma awards, and a total of 128 exciting personalities are included in the list.

The Padma Awards are categorized into three sections namely, Padma Bhushan. Padma Vibhushan and lastly the Padma Shri that will be received by Sonu.

Sonu Nigam is not just the greatest playback singer in Bollywood but also well-revered as a brilliant music director. This singer has predominantly reigned over the music industry by singing in Hindi and Kannada films.

However, his musical skills are not only limited to those to languages only as the artist has sung in Bengali, Tamil, Telegu, Gujrati, Marathi, and many other regional languages. The artist has released more than 5000 songs including single albums, playback, and soundtracks.

For his unparallel contribution, Sonu is also known as the ‘Modern Rafi’ with reference to legend, Muhammad Rafi. Sonu has earned titles like, ‘The Lord Of Chords’ and ‘The master of melody’ for his unwavering vocal skills.

The announcement of Padma Shri for Sonu is truly making his fans and followers happy since the artist deserves the highest civilian award in the country.

Other than that, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and SII MD Cyrus Poonawalla will be receiving the Padma Bhushan Award this year.

Late General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of Defence will be receiving Padma Vibhushan as a posthumous award. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh has been awarded too.

The award-giving ceremony will take place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of the country. The awards will be conferred by the President and the event will take place somewhere around March or April this year.
