Tell us more about your music and musical journey.
I started rapping when I was 8 years. I used music as a getaway. It took me out of the dark places when i was in foster care.
Any memory that is well-associated with this song ‘Jump Out’?
I made the song jump out to let the world know how I really felt. In the Beginning of the song It says “I don’t care if you like me because I don’t like you” I really meant that. I feel like theirs levels to this music an a-lot of these artists are just in the way.
You mentioned your uncle John and how he got you to meet various artists, so have you met any upcoming artists who are the leading singers of this time?
Yeah I just did a song with Bone. Gotta say Bone was 100 to. I had my guy damien thompson (M.I.E) put together a beat. Big ups to Rohveah (GK) and his partner kristan for the connection. But yeah I got something in the works for sure. When my new ep drops ( #2combo) hosted with Tokyio himself gonna have the summer going crazy.
Tell us more about your childhood. What is the first memory you have of music?
My childhood is what i made of it. I was a state baby so from bouncing from home to home made my heart turn cold. I hated the world but ended up loving music. So imagine being a Kid ..feeling like nobody wanted you but then feeling like the music needed you.
Are you willing to collaborate with any of the contemporary artists that you find extremely talented?
Yes of course but you gotta be willing to put a bag behind the project. If you can’t invest in yourself I don’t want you around me.
You have shared earlier that one can achieve better by helping others. How do you incorporate this beautiful idea in the beginning days of a singer’s career?
Yeah giving back can mean everything. whatever you put out in this world is what you gonna get back out of it.
Can you elaborate us why you choose the name ‘Yikes859’?
Yikes is short for Yikes Is Killing Everybody’s S!?@l lol even my name. is bar,,
What genre you are working on right? Would like to try any new music genre in the future?
I actually have a rock project coming up with a good friend name Max Green. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Wanna try something different to show my fans The Sky is the limit.
What or rather who is the musical inspiration that has encouraged you to take your music career seriously at an age of 13?
My uncle john but also like I said it was my get away from the world
What are the plans for this year, what are the surprises that you are delivering?
This year I’m dropping back to back. All the songs I’ve been working on since Covid is heat plus I am emptying the vault this year. I am coming for the crown. That’s the difference between me and a lot of artists I am willing to put the work in, plus my guys know I got them
Can you share any thoughts that you have gathered from your musical journey by far? That can help any aspiring artist.
My advice would be to keep pushing and chasing your dream, don’t give nobody a free ride. During your journey with this music you’re going to find out who really supports you. How can you eat if you don’t do the dishes.
