Mirchi Music Awards Pays Tribute, Honor to the Music Artists of the Indian Music Fraternity in the Glamorous Evening

Many renowned artists from the music industry of India turned up on 8th March, 2022 to celebrate India’s one of the prestigious music awards Smule Mirchi Music Awards. In the evening of glamour and music, celebrities came under the roof of one single tagline ‘Har Entertainment Mein Mirchi Hai’.

The show was hosted by one of the most loved singers of India Sonu Nigam, and co-hosted by Neha Bhasin and Meiyang Chang.

Sonu Nigam paid tribute to the Nightingale of India the late Lata Mangeshkarji, whereas, Meet Bros paid tribute to the legend who died of late, Bapi Lahiri. Nigam also paid tribute to Shravan Rathod, accompanied by his two sons Darshan and Sanjiv.

In a talk with the Bombay Times, Sonu Nigam said, “I am the only person in my generation, who actually had the good fortune of singing with Lata ji, so I chose the songs I sang with her.”

Singer Shriti Pathak also paid tribute to the nightingale and sang her famous songs like Do Pal Ruka’ (‘Veer Zara’) and O Palan Hare’ (‘Lagaan’). She said, “It was very emotional to be a part of this tribute to her. For every singer, Lata Ji was an institution.”

Sou expressed his love for the Mirchi Music Awards said, “I am like the Dai Ma of Mirchi Music Awards. I always make sure that all my support is there with MMA so that it keeps going on.”. He further added, “It is a credible award function and it will always have my support. I always go out of my way to make things work for MMA.”

Neha Bhasin who co-anchored the show with Sonu Nigam said, “I think MMA is special because they are the only awards dedicated just to the music of all genres. It is a pleasure and honor to be here as it is my family.”

Talking about the highlights of the show Neha Said, “The highlight this year was the tribute to Lata Ji, the award for the legacy of Bappi Da – the most important gems and legends of the music industry who have given us so much to learn from.

She further added about the performance of the Mohan sisters, “I was very proud of Neeti, Shakti, and Mukti doing their performance on their new song. I always felt that they are a very talented trio.”.

She even mentioned in her talks, “Another highlight of the awards night is that I performed my Punjabi folk song. It is a big deal for me because this is my independent music that I had started out in 2013 and it is like I have come full circle. I have been fighting for independent music and doing it the way I want to do it.”

In awards, Shershah bagged the most numbers of awards. Raataan Lambiyan composed and written by Tanshik Bagchi ad sung by Asees Kaur and Jubin Nautiyal won three prestigious awards; music composer of the year, song of the year, and lyrics of the year. Shershah also bagged the album of the year award.

Javed Ali won the Male Vocalist of the Year award for Shrivalli from the movie Pushpa. Shreya Ghoshal won the Female vocalist of the year award for Chaka Chak from Atrangi Re.

Arijit Singh, people’s favorite, debuted this year as a music composer and bagged the award of the Upcoming Music Composer of the year for Thode Kam Ajnabi from the movie Pagglait.

AP Dhillon and Gurinder Gill won independent music artist for Brown Munde. Song Ladki from Angrezi Medium won the Recreated song of the year.
