English singer-songwriter Louis Tomlinson opened up about One Direction in his latest interview. He shared talked about the band’s first album and shared his opinion about it. He said that the 2011 album, ‘Up All Night’ was not good, which he realized after 11 years.

Tomlinson recently co-hosted an FM’s show called Smallzy’s Surgery broadcasted on the Australian radio station Nova. He mentioned at the beginning of the show that One Direction was formed exactly 12 years ago.

The prime host of the program, Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small jokingly told him that he was ‘late to the party’ as he first interviewed the band in 2012. Tomlinson replied by saying, ‘the first album was shit anyway’.

One Direction’s first album, ‘Up All Night’ was released in 2011 and despite receiving mixed reviews from the critics it became a massive hit all over the world. The single, ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ earned 31 Platinum certificates in six countries. The other two songs from the album, ‘One Thing’ and ‘Gotta Be You’ became number one on music charts in seven regions including number two in the UK. The songs gained 22 Platinum certificates in seven countries.

The album still is the biggest and most successful album of One Direction so far. The band’s latest album ‘Made In The A.M. was released a year before they announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus and it sold fewer copies than the previous albums.

Louis Tomlinson came to the radio show Smallzy’s Surgery to promote his current world tour which ends with a trio of sold-out dates in Italy at the beginning of September.

He is currently working on his solo second album. He talked about the upcoming album on the show and the detailed information is still not revealed. Tomlinson told Smallzy, ‘I’ve enjoyed [making this album] 20 times more than the first album’.

Tomlinson released his debut solo album, ‘Walls’ on January 31st, 2020 through Syco Music and Arista Records. The album reached number nine position on the US Billboard 200 chart and sold more than 35,000 units.
