The accused was arrested on attempted murder charges for shooting the dog walker of Lady Gaga and has been captured again after being mistakenly released previously.
The accused, James Howard Jackson is reportedly 19 years old, was arrested in Palmdale and was taken into custody by Northern Los Angeles County after a sudden raid. The L.A County’s Sheriff’s department announced on Wednesday that the accused was hiding in the high desert community after being mistakenly released from jail in April this year. On the same day another suspect in the case, Jaylin White, 20 who pleaded ‘”non-contest” to the second-degree robbery was sentenced to four years in prison.
Both of the accused were arrested in April 2021 along with Lafayette Whaley, 28 who is the alleged third mugger in this case. According to the prosecutors, the trio ensnared Ryan Fischer on February 24th of 2021 while he was walking three French bulldogs of the global pop star. Among the trio, Jackson was accused of shooting Fischer directly on his chest with a handgun .40-caliber after he refused to hand over the pets to the gang. Although Fischer had sustained the shot, Jackson was charged with attempted murder.

In April of this year a “clerical error” made it seems that all the charges of attempted murder, second-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery were dismissed against Jackson which was followed by his accidental release from jail. After the incident, the authorities have been searching for him ever since. Last month, the US Marshall Service announced a $5,000 reward for any information regarding Jackson’s whereabouts, however, if the arrest was a result of that is still unclear.
The sheriff’s department did not share any other details regarding how the arrest was made or how Jackson was located, only stating that Jackson was “apprehended without incident”.
The incident took place on February 24, 2021; when a sedan pulled up alongside Fischer who was walking three French bulldogs, Asia, Gustav, and Koji. Two suspects appeared and stole two of the bulldogs and the third one, Miss Asia, ran away. In the chaos of fighting the robbers, Fischer was shot in the chest which was captured on the surveillance camera nearby.
The third dog was later found safe and two of the other dogs were also returned to the police by one of the suspects two days after the incident. Lady Gaga also announced a $500,000 reward for her beloved pets’ safe return.
Police said at the time of the crime, the accused did not know who the pets belong to, but did the crime as they knew the breed is expensive.
