Yesterday the news broke that Ozzy Osbourne will no longer be performing at the Power Trip Festival for health issues. The announcement came directly from him as he posted on social media and soon, just a day after Judas Priest was named as the replacement.

The 74-year-old stated in the announcement, “As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.” He continued, “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.” “Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed” Osbourne announced.

Announcing who is going to replace him on the stage, Osbourne commented, “The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly,” he promised. “They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.” Shortly after that, Judas Priest has now announced that they will be replacing the “heavy-metal pioneer” at Power Trip, which is a three-day hard-rock festival that will take place from October 6th-8th, in Indio, California. Other acts will be performing at the festival and some of them are – Metallica, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and Iron Maiden.

Announcing their performance at the Power Trip Festival, Judas Priest said, “Power Trippers, are you ready for some Judas Priest style heavy metal! We are excited and ready to raise double horns way high together. Keeping the metal faith at this bostin’ one-of-a-kind Power Trip world event!” The band is regarded as one of heavy metal’s foundational bands and recently, in 2022 was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. On July 11th, it was officially announced that Judas Priest will be performing on Saturday, 7th October, alongside AC/DC.

Ozzy Osbourne has canceled the festival due to health reasons, particularly due to the pain his body experiences from a spine injury. The Black Sabbath frontman last toured in 2018. From the European tour this year, the artist pulled out again saying he knew he “couldn’t deal with the travel required.”
