Last time the festival was held in 2021 and Ukraine welcomed 600,000 fans. They have hosted Liam Gallagher, the Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Placebo, and Kasabian.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Atlas has been put on hold. 2 years after 2021, Ukraine’s Largest Music Festival is to return to its fans. For 2024, the show has been rebranded as ATLAS UNITED. The festival will return to its Blockbuster Mall located in the capital of the country, Kyiv. From the 12th of July to the 14th of July the festival will return to its usual stage.
More than 70 Ukrainian music artists have been booked for this 3-day-long show. To support these Ukrainian musicians there will be several international artists as well to support them and this gallant initiative. Most of the names of these international artists have not been revealed yet; the show is keeping the surprising element for all the attendees. The list remains secret for their safe purposes as well.
The show is also donating a larger portion of its ticket sale money to the armed forces of Ukraine. They are also quite prepared if Russia plans to invade the show via air. There will be an underground parking structure which they will use to take shelter from the probable carnage caused by Russia. The festival started in 2015 and till 2021, they came back each year with some charming surprises and many attendees.
Renowned artists like BoomBox, The Subways, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, The Black Eyed Peas, ASAP Rocky, Okean Elzy, and DJ Snake have performed on the stage of Atlas Weekend in assorted years of returning. Jamala, the former Eurovision winner recently shared that artists must be loud and creative in their enigmatic way, she said, “There are many wars now in the world and, of course, it is not easy to constantly keep attention on yourself so that people do not get tired of our war.”
She also added Ukraine “cannot afford” to boycott Eurovision after the controversial decision that allowed Israel to compete for this. She also added, “But that is our task, people who remain in Ukraine, people who are fighting, to be as loud and creative … this is the task of artists to find new ways of how to reveal and show their country.”
She encouraged the entry of Ukraine’s 2024 entry to Eurovision. Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil are nominated this time. She encouraged them to “talk about the fact that the war in Ukraine continues”. Jamala also accused Russia of “violating a criminal law”. This has been the longest-running war after the Second World War the Ukrainian causalities have crossed tens of thousands already.
