On Saturday, at the Reading and Leeds Festival towards the end of her set, Lana Del Rey’s microphone went off unexpectedly and her performance was cut short. Some fans reported on social media that the early ending came at the beginning of ‘Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have-But I Have It’ the closing track of her album Norman Fucking Rockwell of 2019. For this incident, the UK festival posted on Instagram a short statement on Sunday stating, ‘Due to an error by the Reading production team we accidentally cut Lana Del Rey’s incredible set short by 5 minutes, we apologize unreservedly to Lana and her fans.’ This acknowledgment of the technical issue was posted with the intention of reassuring the audiences and fans that the error was completely unintentional and the festival organizers regretted the inconvenience it had caused to the singer and her fans.

The singer, born as Elizabeth Woolridge Grant is known for her husky singing style and the iconic orchestral, atmospheric, and 60s-sounding pop that showcases her enigmatic image performed at the Leeds portion of the fest at Bramham Park on Sunday night which marked the end of her tour in support of 2023’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Apart from this, she spoke about her next album Lasso saying, ‘All my albums are somewhat rooted in Americana, unless it’s an album like Honeymoon which has a jazz flair, so I don’t think it will be a heavy departure … If anything, it will just be a little lighter lyrically, and more pointed in a classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production — which again, so many of my songs already are.’

A fan has captured Lana watching the fireworks on the stage and posted the video on X (formerly known as Twitter) captioned ‘Lana Del Rey watching UK fireworks’. Other reports have added that the singer had started her performance 10-15 minutes late due to bad weather and could not even finish her set due to a technical issue. Throughout the festival the audiences complained about bad sound quality and that they could not hear anything clearly over the loud sound of techno performances. A review from a well-known newspaper read ‘The queen of nuanced pop deserved better than this travesty.’
