The official video of the new song ‘Tailor Swif’ by A$AP Rocky has hit the internet by storm and it’s full of surreal visuals and confident lyricism of the rapper.
After the leak of the song ‘Tailor Swif’in 2022, the globally acclaimed rapper A$AP Rocky has finally dropped the official music video of the song and within just a few hours it has gotten more than 150k likes on the digital platform. The video was shot in Kyiv, Ukraine two months prior to the invasion and is directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia. The surreal imagery in the video is bound to create a long-lasting impact on the viewers’ minds just like the strong, playful, and introspective lyrics of A$AP Rocky. Images of canine chaperones, airborne vehicles, urban pandas, and dolphins, the tapestry of bathroom hijinks are mind-boggling, to say the least.
The track is said to follow last week’s video for the Jessica Pratt, featuring ‘Highjack’ and is set to be featured on a new album ‘Don’t Be Dum’. Courtesy of Hitkidd’s production, the song opens with an ethereal synth and pad that quickly transitions into a hard-hitting trap beat which mirrors the duality of the theme, meandering between sheer confidence and introspective reflection. The fun wordplay and audacious references perfectly showcase A$AP Rocky’s braggadocio in the song while serving as a testament to his self-assuredness and ability to command attention. From his humble beginnings to his reaching the stage as a global superstar; the lyrics touch every aspect of the rapper’s life.
The track impeccably portrays the rapper’s musical prowess and his ability to push boundaries. Even though some may find the lyrics provocative, their contribution to the overall impact of the song is undeniable. The track has proved that the rapper is able to create something fun, entertaining, and thought-provoking at the same time. The first verse reflects the confidence and charisma of the rapper via lyrics like ‘Ready, might just sign my ex-girl, no Malcolm and Eddie, already,’ which clearly shows that he navigates relationships on his own terms while referencing to the sitcom ‘Malcolm & Eddie’ that adds a playful jab at the complexities of romantic partnerships.
The repeating line ‘I’m too swift, don’t tell Taylor ’bout this shit’ is a clever wordplay that refers to the rapper’s speed and agility and the pop sensation Taylor Swift. The repetition depicts his sense of humor and confidence with finesse. The song also shares images of deeper reflections of the humble start the rapper has had and the high position he has reached now through his talent by juxtaposing two completely different things in lyrics like ‘Eatin’ lamb chops on the block when we was broke,’.
