Charli XCX Surprises Everyone At Madison Square Garden

The Brat pop star is currently on a joint North America arena tour with Troye Sivan. While touring, she was scheduled to perform at the Madison Square Garden where she shocked the audience when she brought out Lorde on the stage to perform. They performed Charlie XCX’s ‘Gir5l, So Confusing’ remix which marked the remix’s live debut with both Charli XCX and Lorde singing together in person. But this was not the end of surprises; as Charli invited Addison Rae onstage to perform her single ‘Diet Pepsie’ together as well as her ‘Von Dutch’ remix.

 With the surprise release of the remix of ‘Girl, So Confusing’ with Lorde, Charli XCX put an end to rumors of a rift between the pair. The news of the collaboration was announced using the now-coined Brat wall by having painters write Lorde’s name on a white wall. After this announcement, the Brat singer posted a snippet from the song to her private 360_brat page, where the collaborator and Royal singer Lorde could be heard singing ‘Well honestly, I was speechless when I woke up to your voicemail when you told me how you’re feeling, let’s work it out on the remix.’

On the original track, Charli XCX sings ‘People say we’re alike / They say we’ve got the same hair / We talk about making music / But I don’t know if it’s honest,’ before she repeats the refrain, ‘It’s so confusing, sometimes, to be a girl,’ describing her overthinking, insecure tendencies around her ‘awkward,’ frenemy relationship with a fellow singer, whom she doesn’t ‘have much in common’ besides being two of the internet’s favorite artists.

Lorde also features on Charli’s Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat, a re-imagined version of her hit LP Brat featuring new songs and remixes of album cuts alongside other guests like Billie Eilish, Robyn, Troye Sivan, and Rae. Many of the tracks on Brat and It’s Completely Different but also still Brat are new, but some of the remixes — including ‘Guess’ with Billie Eilish and ‘Girl, So Confusing’ with Lorde — have come out over the past couple of months.
