BTS’ V and Bing Crosby to release a remix of ‘White Christmas’. The K-pop star called the artist his “all-time favorite jazz artist” ahead of this posthumous duet.
Bing Crosby‘s ‘White Christmas’ has always been a beloved holiday banger and more than 80 years after its release, the song is finally getting a boost from V. BTS‘ V has teamed up with the Crosby estate for a new remix of the classic. The holiday duet between the late Crosby and BTS’ V is titled ‘White Christmas (with V of BTS)’ and will be released on December 6th, Friday. The classic holiday hit will be released in partnership with Bing Crosby Estate, Primary Wave Music, and Geffen Records, and the remix has been described as an “era-bridging collaboration”.
This 1942 smash, arriving this week, will be Crosby’s newest collaboration after 47 years. Crosby’s last cross-generational duet was in 1977, “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy,” with David Bowie. “I’m so grateful to have had the chance to be featured in a song with my all-time favorite jazz artist, Bing Crosby,” V from BTS said in a statement “I grew up listening to his song ‘It’s Been a Long, Long Time’ countless times a day, and I feel incredibly fortunate and honored to have sung along on ‘White Christmas’ with the voice of someone I consider an idol.” “Being a huge fan of his, I sang with the utmost sincerity and admiration for him,” continued the South Korean musician. He previously covered “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”. Of the covered tracks, Crosby’s record peaked at No. 30 on the Holiday Streaming Songs, No. 14 on the Holiday Digital Song Sales, and No. 8 on the Holiday Airplay charts. “I hope many people enjoy it as much as I enjoyed singing it. Lastly, I wish everyone listening to the song a lovely holiday season.”

Crosby made the song for Irving Berlin’s musical film Holiday Inn, in 1942. His version quickly gained fame and got into Guinness World Records, according to which, Crosby’s version is among the world’s best-selling singles (in terms of physical media sales). The song earned excess of 50 million physical copies worldwide in estimated sales. The track was released 16 years before the creation of Billboard Hot 100 in 1958. However, it premiered in December of that same year and later reached No. 12 in 1962.
Crosby’s daughter Mary Crosby came forward about this new posthumous collaboration with her father saying, “As a family, we are thrilled to have V and Dad singing together on this ultimate Christmas song. Their voices blend beautifully, capturing the holiday spirit in the best possible way.” The legendary vocalist’s son Harry added, “We are happy that V will help share the joy of this timeless Christmas song.” This team-up is arriving 9 months after V’s previous solo single ‘FRI(END)S’. Currently, the South Korean pop artist is performing his mandatory enlistment duties in the country’s military. In the South Korean military, he is joined by four of his BTS bandmates: SUGA, RM, Jimin, and Jung Kook. The other bandmates, Jin and J-Hope separately got released earlier this year after completing their service obligations.
