A post for his fans turned into something utterly embarrassing and hilarious for the K-pop idol Eric from the boy band THE BOYZ. On November 11th, a special day dedicated to love is celebrated which is known as Pepero Day. The name is mainly related to a kind of chocolaty snack that has the same name. So it can be assumed that on Pepero Day, the couples and the loved ones gift each other with packets of Pepero the chocolaty snacks. Eric posted a picture of this so-called love chocolate on a popular social media platform along with a handwritten letter. Little did he know, it was not a packet of chocolaty snacks that he posted a picture of.

Later on, he realized that it was a packet of condoms that had a very similar packaging to the Pepero packets. In the handwritten note he had said, ‘I could buy 4.03 million Pepero sticks for the Derbys I love.’ Honestly, it was not even his fault many of his fans said in the comments while sympathizing with him in humor, ‘Anyone would have mistaken it for Pepero,’ ‘Even the store employees must have been confused,’ and ‘I almost bought one too!’ During Pepero Day, people give each other a stick-shaped snack which is similar to Japan’s Pocky as a gesture of friendship and affection. The holiday originated because of the numbers ‘11/11’ resemble four Pepero sticks.

After realizing his mistake, Eric quickly deleted the post and apologized on social media writing, ‘Happy Pepero day, everyone…Honestly, I feel so embarrassed I want to hide for a week’. He explained, ‘I bought it after work from display outside the convenience store near my dorm. I had no idea it was anything other than a Pepero.’ He continued, ‘There were many types of Pepero, but I picked one labeled ‘Dear’—thinking of our fan song ‘Dear’ and wanting to write ‘Dear. TheB’ for our fans. If it shocked you, I’m sorry. I hope you all got my letter. Now I’m off to hide!’ This cute and hilarious scandal surely made Pepero Day for THE BOYZ’s fans even more memorable than they could have imagined.

Right now the boy band is promoting their song ‘Trigger’ which is a dramatic combination of house electro-pop and grand hip-hop sounds, and its development is very impressive. The word ‘Trigger’ means ‘fuse’ or ‘opportunity,’ which is a keyword containing THE BOYZ’s strong ambition to create a significant impact and change in the world.
