Find a Captivating Blend of Hip-Hop and RnB With Guy Junior’s Debut Track ‘Love Me Again’

Rising musical talent from Cleveland, Ohio, Guy Junior has come up with a brand track Love Me Again which currently creating a buzz among the listeners. It is hard to believe that this the just the debut track by the artist considering its finesse and perfection. It offers a blended flavour of hip-hop and R&B making it sound more melodic and energetic at the same time. Let’s find out what Junior has to say about music.

Guy Junior

DMR: Congratulations on the release of ‘Love Me Again’! What are your feelings regarding this music project?

Guy Junior: Thank you! I appreciate it! I love this song! It’s very personal and I have spent a lot of time with it, so it makes sharing it hard. To me, sharing music or any form of art with people is scary because you are basically inviting people into your mind or letting them read your diary.

DMR: For how long you have been creating this single? Tells us the concept.

Guy Junior: I actually wrote the hook and the second verse in 2019. I’ve sat with this song for quite some time. After writing the song, I put music on the back burner and Covid hit which changed everything. I wrote the first verse sometime in 2023 and finally recorded it in December of 2023.  The concept of the song is about the ups and downs of love.  I am serenading a former lover asking for forgiveness for my wrongdoings.  I know that I messed up a good thing and regret my decisions.

DMR: Since you have a blended style of hip-hop and R&B, how would you like to define your genre?

Guy Junior: This song in particular is melodic rap mixed with R&B.  I pulled inspiration from many of my favourite artists like Beyonce, Doja Cat, Usher, and Brandy, just to name a few.

DMR: Which other music genres you would like to experiment with in the future?

Guy Junior: Honestly, if you looked at my Spotify or Apple music, you would see music from just about every genre.  I actually have the hooks for a few songs I’ve been working on. One song has a country vibe, another has rock vibes, and of course pop.

DMR: How did your knack for music develop?

Guy Junior: I’ve always loved music! When I was a kid, I always loved singing and the piano, so my Grandma Dorothy got me a teacher for piano lessons which made me dive deeper into music. I still remember how to play a few songs but I’m no Beethoven or Mozart.  Through the years I studied singers and how they used breath control, their techniques, and delivery.

DMR: How is the current music scene in Cleveland?

Guy Junior: Cleveland has an interesting music scene. There are a lot of talented people here but they don’t get the exposure they deserve.  I remember when I was younger you had artists like Pooh Gutta, F.O.C., Ericka Kane, Chip Da Rippa, Fat Al, and so on. I miss that era, everybody knew their music and it was played at all of the house parties growing up.

DMR: What are your views on the modern music industry?

Guy Junior: Umm, I would love to be in the music industry but I have heard horror stories that make me second guess it sometimes. Even known artists have said the industry isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I want to be successful but I don’t want to compromise my beliefs and morals.

DMR: What kinds of struggles did you face on your musical journey?

Guy Junior: My biggest struggle was myself and the fear of being critiqued.  As I mentioned before, it can be scary sharing your art with other people and hope they understand your vision.  But I said going into 2025, I want to live my life with no regrets and do everything I want to do! If they get my art… perfect, and if they don’t… their loss. But then again everything isn’t for everybody.

DMR: Would you like to collaborate with other music artists?

Guy Junior: There are so many! Of course, Beyonce, Jazmine Sullivan, Brandy, John Legend, Doja Cat, Usher, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and so many others!

DMR: Since you can rap and sing both, are you vocally trained?

Guy Junior: No, I’m not vocally trained. Honestly, I have just studied artists and I think playing the piano helped me.

DMR: Are you working on any upcoming music project?

Guy Junior: I do have a few songs that I am working on but none of them sound similar to “Love Me Again”.  I still will have songs where I rap but I plan on showing more of my vocal ability because it really wasn’t captured in this song.

DMR: What would you like to say to your fans?

Guy Junior: I’d rather call them supporters, I don’t think I’m big enough yet to have “fans”. However, I want to thank all of my supporters for their support on this new journey!  I hope that they are able to relate to and connect to my music. Also, I want them to take a leap of faith and do something that they always wanted to do.  Don’t let the noise, haters, or fear stop you from chasing your goals and dreams.  Lastly, make sure you continue to stream “Love Me Again” on all music streaming platforms and follow me on social media @HelloImGuy and @GuyJuniorOfficial on Instagram and GuyandFriends on YouTube.
