Great news for Ed Sheeran fans! The British singer-songwriter says that his new album is already “Done”. He also teases the upcoming single! On March 19th, the globally known pop star shared a clip of himself with the songwriter and producer Ilya Salmanzadeh (Lisa, Ariana Grande) in the studio, hinting at brand new music to his fans. The video clip shows the singer excitedly dancing along to the upcoming track ‘Azizam’. This is the single that the artist previously previewed on YouTube with a 30-second clip. The song received a complete backing from the Citizens Of The World Choir. Sheeran sang, “And if love’s just a game, come and play / Azizam / Meet me on the floor tonight / Show me how to move like the water / In between the dancing lights / Be my, be my Azizam,” over an enthusiastic dance beat. The ‘Shape Of You’ singer captioned the post, “Album done. Single soon. I’m very excited as you can tell.” Although the singer did not reveal any release date in the post.

From the post, the listeners gathered that ‘Azizam’ is a fast-paced dance anthem that will have some Persian influence, hinted by the title of the track itself. The title is a Persian term for affectionate names, which means “my dear”.

This fresh update follows a surprise performance on the streets of New Orleans. There the singer debuted the track and was joined by a brass band. His series of surprise performances did not end there. On Monday, the ‘Perfect’ hitmaker made another surprise acoustic performance to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at a Boston Pub. This made the latest set in a series of impromptu performances by the British singer-songwriter. He surprised fans with an impromptu performance of his hits along with the Britney Spears’ hit ‘…Baby One More Time’ last week at Nashville. Similarly, in February, videos surfaced showing police shutting down his street performance in Bengaluru, India. Although Sheeran attracted a sizable and excited crowd, local authorities stepped in over permit concerns. However, he later explained that the interruption had been prearranged.

Meanwhile, the singer previously announced that a new track titled ‘Sapphire’ would be released in the coming months. He shared the news on social media while responding to a fan who asked which of his songs would be best for their wedding, saying, “Depends when you’re getting married, coz there’s a fair few new options coming soon”. Hints of new music follow Sheeran’s 2024 reveal that his next album is already finished. “It feels like I’m getting back into big pop for the first time in a long time,” Sheeran explained of the LP’s sound.

Sheeran has not released any new album since 2023. Four months prior to releasing ‘Autumn Variations’, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, Sheeran dropped ‘– (Subtract)’, the last installment in his series of math-themed albums following ‘+’, ‘X’, ‘÷’, and ‘=’. Toward the end of last year, he also released the song ‘Under the Tree’ for the Netflix holiday film ‘That Christmas’. ‘Azizam’ arrives as Ed Sheeran continues his long-running Mathematics Tour. In 2025, he has already performed in Bhutan, India, and China. After a short break since March 2, he will resume touring in Qatar on April 30. The Mathematics Tour is set to conclude later this year, with a final stretch across much of Europe before Sheeran wraps up in Düsseldorf on September 7. “It was time to Stop,” the artist wrote on Instagram when he announced the final Mathematics shows last summer. “But then we can press Play.”
