2020 Holiday virtual concert will be held by Jazz at Lincoln center

This Holiday season Jazz at Lincoln Center is orchestrating the premiere of Big Band Holiday on December 19th. A New Years’ Eve Celebration: Live From Dizzy’s will also be celebrated on December 31st. Both the concerts will be featuring top and budding artists in the Jazz industry.

Big Band Holidays

The virtual concert will be featuring jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and guest vocalists Rubén Blades, Catherine Russell, Kurt Elling, and Ashley Pezzotti.

The show will be broadcasted on Saturday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. EST. You can have on-demand access to the program through Sunday, December 27 at 3:00 a.m. EST with your ticket.

The virtual concert is going to light up the ambiance this holiday season with this first-ever exceptional virtual Jazz concert. The world’s top jazz artists like Wynton Marsalis will be performing at the Big Band Holidays at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Other famous names in the industry like Rubén Blades, Catherine Russell, Kurt Elling, and Ashley Pezzotti will also be performing holiday favorites like ‘Winter Wonderland’, ‘Zat You, Santa Claus?’, ‘Nutcracker Suite, Mvt. III’, ‘O Tannenbaum’, ‘Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!’, and ‘Little Drummer Boy.’

Holiday Celebration has been indulging the world with quality music since December 1989 at Jazz at Lincoln Center. This year they have opted for a virtual concert and the Big Band Holidays will be featuring a combination of performances recorded at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, virtual at-home recordings, and highlights from previous Big Band Holidays holiday concerts to keep the holiday tradition going.

Ticketing

The tickets to the concert can be bought from their official website jazz.org.

For non-members, the tickets are at $25 each.

 Lincoln Center members will be getting discounts on the tickets. The tickets are free for Chairman’s Circle, Board, and Select Donors. The patrons’ program and upper-level Rhythm Club will have to pay only $12.50. For the friends of Jazz and Lower Level Rhythm Club and Jazz at Lincoln Center Subscribers, the tickets are only $20.00 each.

Ticket holders will get access to the virtual concert through the webpage link shared via email with their private password.

A New Year’s Eve Celebration: Live From Dizzy’s

On December 31 at 7:30 p.m. EST, the New Year’s Eve edition of Live From Dizzy’s will showcase performance from Emmet Cohen Trio with special guests Houston Person and Samara Joy McLendon. They will be performing holiday classics such as ‘What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve’, ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’, tunes by George Gershwin and Cole Porter, and rare gems like ‘Good Morning Heartache’.

The show has managed to book one of the most popular pianist and bandleaders Emmet Cohen, who is a prominent figure in the cross-generational jazz community in New York City. The trio consisting of Russell Hall on bass, Kyle Poole on drums, and Cohen himself have become extremely popular for talented vocalists and instrumentalists. Promising vocalist Samara Joy McLendon and the winner of the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition, the 86-year-old tenor saxophonist Houston Person will be joining the trio in the concert.
