She professionally studied flamenco at Catalonia College of Music when she was 13. This changed her tone of music which is heavily influenced by flamenco. Part of the reasons why the artist is so widely popular is because Rosalía has successfully made the youth interested in the traditional dance and art form by giving it a modern twist. However, immediately around the same time, she has also been getting criticisms and backlash from the flamenco purists. The main reasons are her not following the strict rules of the art form and not being from Andalusia, a place where it originated from.
