MTV Video Music Awards is best known for its wackiest moments that take place on stage and the 2024 Awards didn’t disappoint the audience as well. The event that took place on Wednesday deserves a full recap for offering some of the most exciting and weirdest moments on stage. The music artists made sure to offer their best while the event offered an experience which is far beyond the distinctive red carpet style. Megan Thee Stallion deserves a special mention for hosting the show with much energy and turning the night into fun for everyone. With the exquisite performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Kay Perry, Karol G, Chappell Roan, and many others; it was quite magnificent!
Sabrina Carpenter Makes Out with an Alien
‘Espresso’ singer Sabrina Carpenter is currently the epitome of everyone’s attention and she takes things a notch higher with her amazing performance at the VMAs. Her medley of ‘Short n’ Sweet’ was on point and what made it even better was the chemistry between the astronaut and an alien which offered galactic vibes. Adding a notch of romance, Sabrina Carpenter ends up having a smooch with a graceful alien, and the crowd is definitely hyped. Making out with an alien was truly an addition of weirdness on Wednesday night.
Katy Perry is Being Bold and Vocal
Video Vanguard winner Katy Perry knows how the move the crowd and it goes without saying that her QR-coded tattoo on her lower back has moved her fans very much. The energetic pop star who offered songs like “Teenage Dream”!, “Firework!”, and “Dark Horse”!; surely knows how to channel her energy through her performance. She also acknowledges the LGBTQ+ community and said “I recognize I would not be here without.” Perry also taught everyone how to normalize making out on stage with their husband and make dark jokes while receiving awards. What a queen!
Is It Really Chappell Roan’s First VMAs?
Everybody must be thinking the same with Chappell Roan offering a killing performance at the MTV VMA 2024. She offered a perfect rendition of her track “Good Luck, Babe!” and she was amazing. Confident, bold, and unapologetic; she fueled more heat in the VMAs with an unwavering personality. With her contribution, the artist managed to receive the best new artist award and while giving her winning speech, the artist made sure to address the community and said, “the queer and trans people who fuel pop.”

Tyla is one of the brightest African artists in the music industry and is best known for her creative musical creations. She won the award for the Best Afrobeats and offered a wonderful winning speech. While it is hard to raise your voice against the organization’s body while you are receiving an award, Tyla did it gracefully with her unwavering presence and loving speech. She offered a shout-out to her fellow music artists namely Tems and Burna Boy who have made the afro industry more popular in the market.
Taylor Swift Mentioned Her Boyfriend Travis Kelce and Asked Everyone to Vote
It is sure a huge week for Taylor Swift after she officially endorsed Kamala Harris for the Presidential election on Tuesday. She won the award for the video of the year for the song “Fortnight” and also gained other accolades. At the MTV Video Music Awards 2024, Swift made sure to mention her boyfriend Travis Kelce in her winning speech and the singer said, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness, fun, and magic. So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot.” However, she has also emphasized the coming election and said, “If you’re over 18, please register to vote for something else that is important—the presidential election.” Urging young fans to vote is a responsible move by the pop star who has millions of Swifties following her. She has also paid tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attack.
The Slim Shady is Back Again!
Eminem kicked off the MTV VMA 2024 with a nostalgic feeling yet made sure to bridge the gaps with a powerful rendition of his latest track ‘Houdini’. Somehow, the rapper brought back the essence of the 2000s style with his signature hip-hop style with a black tee and blond hair. HIS Latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ is currently creating a huge buzz among the real stans and perhaps, this is the reincarnation of Slim Shady. Eminem also joined forces with Jelly Roll and offered glimpses of their collaborative project ‘Somebody Save Me’. Taylor Swift was also found vibing with Eminem’s performance while sipping on drinks.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa Showing More Colors to the VMA Crowd
BLACKPINK’s Lisa has charmed MTV VMA 2024 with her solo performance and the fans have showered their love. She offered a powerful performance of her new single ‘New Woman’. Unfortunately, her collaborator Rosalia was absent at the event but it could diminish the excitement that Lisa has to offer. Her jaw-dropping performance makes her no less than a Rockstar who can move the crowd. With her spicy red leather outfit, the Thai-born singer has dominated the stage.
Everyone Paid Tribute to Britney Spears
Starting from the host of the event Megan The Stallion to Sabrina Carpenter, everyone paid tribute to Britney Spears. Stallion dressed up like Britney from the music video for “Slave 4 U” where she performed with a live snake. Similarly, Sabrina Carpenter also used a clip from the track “Oops! … I Did It Again,” for her mash-up performance. However, Britney Spears is seemingly more curious about the stunt where Sabrina Carpenter kisses the dancer in the Alien outfit.
