Boston Calling Music Festival has just taken place and the authority has responded to the feedback of the last three days that an unprecedented crowd condition was getting “unsafe”. The festival cares for its fans in Allston and shared a statement in order to “acknowledge feedback from Sunday.”

The festival shared, “We deeply appreciate the audience, staff, and performers who make Boston Calling Festival possible, and want to acknowledge feedback from Sunday”. They further added, “While the attendee count was several thousand below the official capacity rating of the site, we never want anyone to feel uncomfortable or unsafe at the show.” They ensured safety by adding, “We will continue to work with public officials and our operations team to improve the experience, layout and ultimately create a better environment for everyone.”

The Sunday lineup for the Boston Calling Music Festival included The Killers and Hozier which created a major buzz among the concertgoers. Other performances included Megan Thee Stallion, The Revivalists, Chappell Roan, and others. Sunday offered some of the best performances and a drone video shows that there was a huge sea of crowd at the festival which took place at the Harvard Athletic Complex. The video was shared on social media and it received comments like, “I thought I was going to be trampled to death in this crowd,” and “Unsafe and too crowded for this area.”

One of the attendees from the fest, Margot Lee said, “There was no getting through like as an individual or as a group.” She has attended the festival thrice now and she knows that people come here to mainly enjoy the four headliners that took place back-to-back on side-by-side stages. She also said that there was more space on the other side of the festival. Lee explained the problem saying, “That was the problem was that you had probably about 40,000 people stuck in one area instead of it being spread out throughout the complex like they were hoping.”

During the set of Hozier set, the crowd became “dangerous” and there was no space to leave even if someone felt sick in the crowd. Lee added, “Someone near us got sick and the whole crowd began to rush and press into each other to get away and give the girl space the problem is there was nowhere to go.” Clearly, Boston Calling made a good curation of artists but their crowd management was not the best.
