The Coachella weekend 2024 was perhaps the most exciting one till now that offered a bunch of surprise guest performances, including from Justin Bieber to Paris Hilton.
Coachella Music Festival never fails to captivate the concertgoers and music lovers with its grand arrangement and high-octane artist lineup. This year, Coachella 2024 offered some of the best surprise guest performances which brings all top artists together; creating the best and most enthralling musical experience for all. Although the festival is set for two weekends, week one has already earned attention with some unexpected appearances on stage. Let’s take a better look at all the guest appearances and performances that took place in the first week.
1. Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish
Headliner artist Lana Del Rey started Coachella 2024 with a memorable performance that also featured three other artists who collaborated and performed, adding the flavors of celebrity guests. Her hit-maker friends joined the stage and each of them performed a track with the singer. Jon Batiste joined Del Rey the first and they performed an extended version of “Candy Necklace.” Soon enough Lana welcomed Billie Eilish on the stage who sang her 2016 hit ‘Ocean Eyes’ and then both of them performed the song’ Video Games’ which made the crowd go crazy. And then Jack Antonoff joined Lana and played piano along with the song “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me — but I Have It.”
2. Shakira and Bizarrap
Bizarrap made sure to make the crowd rave on his beats with a hefty dose of energy. His live DJ set on Friday Night offered the authentic taste and ambiance of Coachella where the crowd resonates with the artists. What enticed the situation even more, was when this talented Argentine producer suddenly welcomed Shakira on stage. The ‘Hip Don’t Lie’ singer joined in the middle of the set the surprise made the fans go gaga.
3. Peso Pluma and Becky G
Peo Pluma was also one of the artists from the lineup who brought popular Mexican singer Becky G to the Friday night event. Not only Becky but there was also Junior H who Pluma for the track “El Azul”. Soon Santa Fe Klan and Arcángel also joined the stage for the tracks “No Son Klle” and “Peso Completo”, respectively.
4. No Doubt with Olivia Rodrigo
Gwen Stefani and No Doubt was on the lineup and it was enough to make the fans shout. They are reuniting on stage after 9 long years. However, everything went a notch higher when the ND and Gwen were joined by Olivia Rodrigo to perform a track on stage. The “Driver’s License” singer offered a brilliant collaboration for the rendition of “Bathwater.” However, the singer herself is a big fan of the band as she was seen wearing a white tee with “I heart ND” written on it.
5. Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, and Childish Gambino
Tyler, The Creator headlined the Saturday event and made sure to keep the fans engaged the whole time. Whether it is the entrance via zip-line dressed as a park ranger or eating a sandwich on stage, this rapper knows how to put on a show. What made the whole set even more captivating, was when Childish Gambino, A$AP Rocky, Charlie Wilson as well as Kali Uchis joined on stage. While Gambino performed ‘Running Out of Time’, Rocky joined for the tracks like “Potato Salad” and “Who Dat Boy.” Wilson participated in the track “Earfquake” and lastly Uchis for ‘See You Again’.
6. Vampire Weekend Brings Paris Hilton
Vampire Weekend is a last-minute addition to the Coachella 2024 lineup and perhaps it was a great decision. The band was joined by Paris Hilton which was quite surprising for the fans as well. The band rocked the show with their hit projects “This Life,””Diane Young” as well as “A-Punk”. It made sure to create a medley of fan-favorite songs while Hilton joined a game of corn hole.
7. Sublime and Jakob Nowell
Bringing back the reminiscence of late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell, his son Jakob made an official debut on Saturday night at the Coachella. However, the other members of the brand were there as well Bud Gough and Eric Wilson who are basically Jakob’s musical Godfathers. Jakob was also found saying, “This is my family,” about the band members.
8. J Balvin and Will Smith
This is perhaps the most surprising appearance taking place on Coachella where aliens and music have merged. J Balvin was performing on Sunday Night, offering an intergalactic-themed show with plenty of lasers on the stage. The crowd was shocked when Will Smith joined the stage to offer a rap performance, the iconic theme of Men in Black. He was also dressed in the MIB suit.
9. Doja Cat and 21 Savage
Doja Cat is the kind of artist who knows how to drop the jaws of her fans and Coachella 2024 seems like the biggest example of that. Whether it is stripping down to a bikini from a full hazmat suit or bringing a T-REX skeleton on the stage, Cat knows it the best. But what surprised the crowd the most, was when A$AP Rocky and 21 Savage joined her for the performance.
10. TEMS and Justin Bieber
TEMS brought the Bieber fever on stage as she welcomed Justin by saying, “Give it up for Justin, the legend.” Prior to her performance, the artist also posted on social media saying “Coachella! I’m too exciteddd I have a surprise tonight.”
11. Reneé Rapp and Kesha
Those days were awesome when ‘TikTok’ was just an amazing song by Kesha and no other application. Reneé Rapp made a cover of this hit track and guess what? Kesha joined her too.
12. Mia Moretti and Katy Perry
Mia Moretti’s high-octane DJ set got even more engaging when she welcomed her longtime pal Katy Perry to the DoLab stage. Katy is the best buddy one can have and she offers her complete support.
13. Bebe Rexha and David Guetta
Bebe Rexha offered a tribute to the legendary DJ of the industry, David Guetta. She performed the tracks “I’m a Mess” and “Meant to Be” and at the end, she also showed her gratitude for the French DJ and producer who supported her throughout her career.
