Phoenix kept the party going with a live set and playing hit singles from the 2009’s, including ‘Lisztomania’ and ‘1901’ while the French singer Yseult sang ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra. Not only these, Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar-winning artist H.E.R performed the US national anthem at the closing events along with a stunt performed by the very own Hollywood king Tom Cruise which involved climbing down from the top of the stadium to the ‘Mission Impossible’ theme song and shaking hands with the athletes before receiving the Olympic flag from the star gymnast Simone Biles, putting it at the back of a motorcycle and riding out of the stadium. The social media platforms are crowded with glimpses and pictures of this amazing night with stars posting for themselves as well. After the Olympic Anthem, the Olympic Flag was passed by the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo to IOC President Thomas Bach which then was passed to the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass officially declaring the next venue of the Olympic Games 2028.
In a mood of peacefulness and appreciation, Thomas Bach, IOC President said, ‘Despite all the tension in our world, you came here from all 206 national Olympic committees and the IOC Refugee Olympic Team, to make the City of Light shine brighter than ever before. Your performances were amazing. You competed fiercely against each other. Every contest on the edge of perfection. Every performance sparking excitement around the world. You showed us what greatness humans are capable of.’ He added, ‘The first Olympic Games with full gender parity. These were sensational Olympic Games from start to finish- or do I say: Seine-sational Olympic Games.’
