Golden Globes 2025 was a complete blast after the very deserving TV shows, films, actors and productions received their recognition. The nomination list had been revealed earlier and the audiences did not have any doubt regarding the curation as most would agree with it.
Adrien Brody seems to be the star of the night with the actor’s performance making “The Brutalist” stand out. The film stood up for seven awards and Brady Corbet won the award for the best director and the movie itself got the award for the best drama. Adrien Brody received the award for the best actor.
On the other hand, Selena Gomez showed some talent in the musical theater “Emilia Pérez” which came out to be quite compelling. It became the most nominated film of the night being featured in ten categories. Among the 10, the film won 4 and it was outstanding. The film got the award for best non-English language picture and musical. Zoe Saldaña’s excellent performance helped her get the award for supporting actress.
“Shogun” offered the most daring performance by taking the award for all the four categories it was selected for. However, the other big shows did not get to perform as well as “Shogun”, since ‘The Bear’ only got one Golden Globe where the series was featured in a total of 5 categories. There is also “Only Murders in the Building” which was nominated for a total of four categories but did not receive any.
What nobody expected was Fernanda Torres winning the award for Best Actress for “I’m Still Here,” and on the other hand, “Challengers” taking home the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. Guess what? Demi Moore just received her first-ever Golden Globe award and that is due to her amazing performance in “The Substance.” Check out the Winners from every category.
Golden Globe 2025 Winners
- Best Motion Picture, Drama
“The Brutalist” won this category which competed against A Complete Unknown”; “Conclave”; “Dune: Part Two”; and “Nickel Boys”.
- Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
“Emilia Pérez” became the winner and received much attention from the audiences as there were also “Anora”; “Challengers”; “A Real Pain”; “The Substance”; and “Wicked” in the list which are remarkably great as well.
- Best Motion Picture, Animated
“Flow” well it had to flow, isn’t it? An animal-oriented animation film that can speak more without words is the best thing you can have. The film won against “Memoir of a Snail”; “Inside Out 2”; ”Moana 2”; “The Wild Robot”; and “Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl”. It was a tough competition indeed.
- Cinematic and Box Office Achievement
“Wicked” seems to be a big hit at the box office as the film has received much commercial success among audiences of all ages. It won against the movies in the nomination namely, “Deadpool & Wolverine”, “The Wild Robot”, “Alien: Romulus”; “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”; “Inside Out 2”; and “Twisters”.
- Best Motion Picture, Non-English Language
“Emilia Pérez” won this category where the other nominations were “All We Imagine as Light”, “The Girl With the Needle”; “The Seed of the Sacred Fig”; “I’m Still Here”; and “Vermiglio”. All of these regional movies are truly intriguing.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama
Fernanda Torres won this award for “I’m Still Here”. It was definitely a tough competition as there were other star actresses like Angelina Jolie, Pamela Anderson, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, as well as Tilda Swinton.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama
As mentioned before, Adrien Brody, received this award for “The Brutalist” the movie that stood out in the finals. Brody won against Timothée Chalamet, Daniel Craig, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes, and Sebastian Stan. Each of them offered an amazing performance for their respective roles.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
After so many years in the entertainment industry, Demi Moore finally received her first Golden Globe for her performance in “The Substance”. She won against Karla Sofía Gascón, Amy Adams, Cynthia Erivo, Zendaya, and Mikey Madison.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
Well, he is not just Bucky, but he can be “A Different Man”. Sebastian Stan won the award for this category along with other actors in the nomination namely Gabriel LaBelle, Glen Powell, Jesse Plemons, Hugh Grant, and Jesse Eisenberg.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
Zoe Saldaña received this award for her performance in “Emilia Pérez” but Selena Gomez did not get any. The other actresses for the supporting roles include Felicity Jones, Margaret Qualley, Isabella Rossellini, and also Ariana Grande.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
Kieran Culkin won this award for “A Real Pain” and he truly deserved it. The other actors in the nomination were Yura Borisov, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong, and last but not least, Denzel Washington.
- Best Director, Motion Picture
Brady Corbet got the nod for “The Brutalist” which is truly a masterpiece film of 2024. The other directors also did a great job creating some of the best films of the year. The nominations for this category include Coralie Fargeat, Jacques Audiard, Sean Baker, Edward Berger, and of course Payal Kapadia.
- Best Screenplay, Motion Picture

A dup win for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for the “Challengers”.
- Best Original Song, Motion Picture
“El Mal,” by “Emilia Pérez” became the best of the best among other songs from the movies like “Beautiful That Way,” “Kiss The Sky,” “Compress / Repress,” “Forbidden Road,” as well as another song from “Emilia Pérez” named “Mi Camino.”
- Best Television Series, Drama
“Shogun” won the award competing against “The Day of the Jackal”; “The Diplomat”; “Slow Horses”; “Squid Game,” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”.
- Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy
“Hacks” became the winner among others namely “Nobody Wants This”; “Only Murders in the Building”, “Abbott Elementary”; “The Bear”; and “The Gentlemen”.
- Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture made for Television
Creepy, strange, and greatly engaging; “Baby Reindeer” has to be the best series of the year. The others from the category are, “True Detective: Night Country”, “The Penguin”; “Ripley”; and “Disclaimer”; “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Drama
Anna Sawai won this award for “Shogun” and she competed against Kathy Bates, Emma D’Arcy, Maya Erskine, Keri Russell, and Keira Knightley.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama
Again, it had to be the “Shogun”. Hiroyuki Sanada received this award competing against Jake Gyllenhaal, Eddie Redmayne, Billy Bob Thornton, Gary Oldman, and Donald Glover aka The Childish Gambino.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy
Jean Smart got this award for the “Hacks” who competed against Kristen Bell, Ayo Edebiri, Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, and Quinta Brunson.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy
Jeremy Allen White’s performance in “The Bear” was truly intriguing and he received the award he deserved. The other actors in the category are Steve Martin, Adam Brody, Jason Segel, and Martin Short.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Movie
Previously it was Matthew McConaughey and now, Jodie Foster won the award for the “True Detective: Night Country”. Others in the nominations were Naomi Watts, Cristin Milioti, Cate Blanchett, Sofía Vergara, and lastly, Kate Winslet.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series of Motion Picture Made for Television
No one could believe it was Colin Farrell until everyone was told her was the real “The Penguin”. The heavy prosthetic makeup could not diminish the acting prowess of this man. He won against Richard Gadd, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Kline, Kooper Koch, and Andrew Scott.
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Supporting Role
It had to be Jessica Gunning, isn’t it? Her performance in “Baby Reindeer” got her this award and she is as proud as she could be. She won against Liza Colón-Zayas, Jessica Gunning, Dakota Fanning, Allison Janney, and Kali Reis.
- Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role
This is another win by “Shogun” with Tadanobu Asano taking the award home. Others from the category were Javier Bardem, Harrison Ford, Jack Lowden, Diego Luna, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
- Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy or Television
If you want a good sense of laughter then Ali Wong has got it all for you with “Ali Wong: Single Lady”. She won this award by competing with Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler, and Ramy Youssef.
