Acoustic intimacy weaves its way into a soulful escape of musicality from the very outset in the latest release by the music virtuoso Martine Mussies in her enchanting new album ‘Home Strung’, as she delves into a realm of wonder and contemplation that is melodically alluring and heartfelt. There is an essence of comfort and familiarity as the raw fingerstyle guitar sets of tracks introduce a live-style vibe that captivates listeners into a hypnotic grip with the delicate rise and fall of melody. Comprising 15 Romantic guitar pieces and 2 encores, the tracks have a healing effect on the souls of the listeners and induce an infectious sense of serenity. The passionate, multi-layered guitar riffs take listeners on a blissful and near-euphoric peak and form a pleasant earworm.
During the summer of 2020 when all her ensembles and concerts were suddenly canceled because of the Corona lockdown, the artist did not lose heart and instead saw it as an opportunity to develop herself musically and continue spreading happiness with her music. It was then that the idea for her new project ‘Home Strung – the naked guitar’ was formed. She took to playing cozy and homely guitar music, recording the songs “live”, with nothing but her phone, a good microphone, and the guitar once given to her by her late friend Walter.
Each track had been recorded in one go, with no edits later on whatsoever. Her ultimate goal was to release an album on vinyl with intimate guitar playing. When we thought the solo album couldn’t get any better, Martine Mussies included a duet with herself as a bonus track.
