MOBO Awards make a comeback next month after three long years of gap

After three long years of hiatus, The MOBO Awards are finally here.

MOBO Awards is the UK’s biggest and most famous ceremony where Black music and culture are celebrated. This year’s award will be taking place on 9th December and will be live-streamed in a first-time-ever digital platform of YouTube at 7 pm and will be broadcasted on BBC One at 10:45 pm.

The audience can watch the highlight of the show on BBC iPlayer the same night and can also avail the supporting content on BBC Sounds.

BBC Radio 1Xtra will be covering the award how as well. They are starting their programs on Sunday, December 6 from 9 to 10 pm with the special 1Xtra Talks show hosted by Richie Brave. It will showcase the history of the last 24 years of MOBO and how music has gone through a revolutionary evolution over the last two decades. DJ Target’s 7 to 9 pm 1Xtra show will be dedicated to the MOBO Awards. It will include a lot of musical performances and interviews.

Nines has bagged most of the nominations in MOBO Awards. He has a total of five nominations. Artists like Lianne La Havas, Mahalia, and Tiana Major9 all have three nominations each. For the award’s three absent years, the organizations of this year have decided to include an album category that includes artists like Nines, Kano, Skepta, Dave, Little Simz, and Ella Mai. There is a new category this year that is Best Music Producer.

MOBO organizers have revealed that As usual, this year’s dynamic ceremony will be full of special surprises. They also said that this year ‘a strong vein of cultural purpose and social commentary will weave through the ceremony’ as they try to articulate a vision of the world as it is, but also as they want it to be.

They further commented that this year many people voiced their protest and mourning, which is higher than ever. They have also raised their voice ‘in celebration of the incredible contributions that black culture has made all around the world.’ MOBO believes that the power of culture can bring all people together.

Famous broadcaster Maya Jama and YouTuber, music artist, and comedian Chunkz will be hosting this year’s award ceremony.

We will be seeing performances from Ms Banks, Headie One, M Huncho, and Tiwa Savage.
