While the trailblazer for Korean pop band Seo Taji and Boys in 1992 revolutionized the Korean pop scene by incorporating American hip-hop and rap into their conventional style of music, it became popular worldwide with PSY’s Gangnam Style in 2012. Since then, the world full of Korean enthusiasts has seen the rise of many K-pop boy bands like MONSTA X, Stray Kids, SHINee, and the most popular of them all, BTS. The unforgettable boyish charm along with fresh, groovy, soul-captivating music has left the fans hungry for more. And to feed this hunger for new Korean tracks, a comparatively young but worthy band has risen to the occasion.
The name RIIZE has been popping up all across social media for its innovation in this genre of music. The band debuted in the year 2023 with their first single album ‘Get A Guitar’ which made sales of more than a million in the first week of its release making it the second most first-week sold debut album of a rookie group. The band consisting of six members, Wonbin, Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Anton, and Sohee was formed by SM Entertainment. Not only the tracks or the music they make is interesting but the name of the band is also interesting as well. The name is a mix of two words; the former is ‘rise’ and the latter is ‘realize’. According to the members, the name means to grow and realize their dreams together as a team.
After their 1st single album, RIIZE is here once again to charm their fans with their 1st mini album ‘RIIZING’. This mini album comprises eight tracks that are completely different from each other. One song in particular, called ‘Boom Boom Bass’ has been gaining a lot of attention from Korean music enthusiasts. This track is a celebration of music beats that can be enjoyed only through dancing one’s heart out. Six different members of the group bring their own flair to the song and also the video that they released on 19th June on YouTube.
It can be said safely that this band’s work is extremely commendable as within just 10 days of its release it has gotten more than 26,000 likes and around 20,000 comments showering love and appreciation from all across the globe. With the cool and vibing electric guitar riffs along with the fast-paced drums and bouncing bass line, this song is a must-have in a party playlist. The young faces of the boy band represent the youth, generation Z, and their way of living life with full-on enthusiasm along with a dollop of fun and a pinch of rebelliousness.
