The two-day music festival of Afro Nation Detroit, which brought various genres and styles of music like Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, gqom, amapiano, and more was held at Bedrock’s Douglass Site, the venue known for its historic importance as it was the first federally funded housing for African-Americans and the home of legends like Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson. Shining stars from the Black diasporas of Afro music like Rema, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, Kizz Daniel and so much more were summoned onto the stage to get the party started. One of the festival’s organizers, Essosa Uddoh said that they have arranged two stages.

One of which is dedicated to amapiano, which is an emerging electronic genre from South Africa. They have Scorpion Kings, DBN Gogo, Musa Keys, and then lots of local Detroit talents as well. And for the main stage, they have arranged for Rema, Asake, Lil Wayne, Partynextdoor, Kash Doll, Shenseea, and a lot more artists there. Although at the very last moment Lil Wayne had to cancel but they were excited about the festival. However, at times, the amapiano stage was more lit than the main Lit Everywhere stage.

Some of the most highlighted moments of the festival involve outstanding and soul-captivating performances by Partynextdoor, King Promise, Shenseea Starr, and Arya Starr.

After Juls and DJ Marine warmed up the crowd for the party to get started, Ruger joined them and effortlessly worked the crowd. Right after this, Partynextdoor delivered a grand finale of his Sorry I’m Outside Tour by taking the stage at the Afro Nation Music Festival. The charming artist, hailing from Toronto mesmerized the audience with his fan favorites ‘Lose My Mind’ and ‘Cheers.’ Adding an extra layer to his performance, his beautiful dancers called Party’s Angels acquired the audiences’ hearts. Although the Afro Nation is primarily an Afrobeats festival, Partynextdoor met R&B and set the stage for the next performance by Asake.

King Promise showed the world once again why he is the king with his spectacular performance using every inch of the stage to connect with his audience. King Promise is known for his mind-bending deliveries and this time Afro Nation was a witness of the enigmatic spectacle. No matter what song the artist sang, the crowd became a choir singing along every word.

The audience erupted when the dazzling superstar Shenseea Starr hit the stage. Her freshly released sophomore studio album, Never Gets Late Here has solidified her stature in the Jamaican music industry as one of the most promising stars. Her effortless lyricism and soul-captivating dance moves felt like breathing life into the stage.

One of the most iconic stars of the Jamaican music scene is Arya Starr and her performance at the Afro Nation Detroit proved once again why she is a rising star. Sharing the spotlight with Rema, Asake, Adekunle Gold, Kizz Daniel, Omah Lay, and Ruger, she delivered an astonishing and dazzling performance. One of the most hyped moments throughout her performance was hr giving off the microphone to dance enigmatically which shows what a high quality of a performer she is. The amazing coordination between her, her band, and the dancers was evidently one of the most effortless performances seen in Afro Nation Detroit.
