Taylor Swift’s major announcement for Red (Taylor’s Version) astonished her large slew of fans, but it turns out they wouldn’t have been surprised if they had been careful about the words that Swift posted a few days ago on her social media. Fans should know about the nuke she is about to drop because she may have hinted at it before – with the help of a friend.
Olivia Rodrigo’s fans are recalling a recent interview in which the singer said that she received a ring from the pop diva Taylor Swift that resembled one she wore during her Red phase.
“Last night — like literally 12 hours ago — I got a package from her with this handwritten note,” Olivia previously revealed back in March while on SiriusXM. “She gave me this ring because she said she wore one just like it when she wrote Red and she wanted me to have one like it.”
Taylor is seen donning a similar ring that has been significantly modified on the new album cover for Red (Taylor’s Version). The previous version of Olivia and Taylor’s ring said “love,” but this revised version says “red” for the album’s name.
As the news of the planned re-release turned out to be a massive surprise, fans on Twitter couldn’t want anything else but to know if it was a coincidence or just another one of Taylor’s easter eggs.
On the other hand, Taylor posted on her Instagram, “I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability, and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, that the next album I’ll be releasing is my version of Red.”
“Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.”
Olivia already worked with BFF Conan Gray to preview some tracks for Taylor’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version), so it wouldn’t be surprising if she hinted at this as well.
Because of fresh new stuff sold at Taylor’s shop before she revealed her upcoming album, many fans assumed it would be a 1989 re-release.
