2023 Grammy Awards’ Most Entertaining Highs And Lows

On February 5th of 2023, what is known as the biggest night in music, the 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Attended by some of the biggest names, the evening was filled with historic wins, the biggest snubs, and some really interesting moments.

Here are some of the notable highlights that will go down in history as the most memorable times in the Grammys-

  • Beyonce’s historic win:

Queen Bey became the most awarded artist in history when on the night of the 65th Annual Grammys Awards, she won her 32nd trophy. Her album ‘Renaissance’ won the award for being the best Dance/Electronic Album of 2022. After winning this one, she overtook George Solti, the Hungarian-British conductor who held the record for having the most, 31 awards for over 20 years.

  • “A tribute to 50 years of hip-hop”:

This is the biggest boost that ceremony got which was curated by Ahmir Khalib “Questlove” Thompson. This tribute featured multigenerational performances of rappers on the stage including magnetic performances by Run-DMC, Huck D and Flavor Flav of Public Enemy, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Ice-T, LL Cool J, Method Man, Missy Elliott, etc.

  • Biggest snub yet?

Many viewers felt a huge snub towards Beyoncé who lost the race toward the award “Album Of The Year” which was won by Harry Styles for his 2022 release ‘Harry’s House’. Despite Beyoncé becoming the most-awarded artist of all time, she lost the award to Styles and the criticism flew towards the committee like they have committed the biggest crime. The internet came on fire, calling out the committee for not giving recognition to Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ and making her lose for the fourth time in a row in the same category.

  • Viola Davis’ EGOT status:

After winning a Grammy on February 5th, Viola Davis has officially achieved the EGOT status, becoming the third black woman in history to achieve that. She received the award for her performance in the audiobook ‘Finding Me’, her memoir.

  • Kim Petras makes history:

The ‘Unholy’ singer Kim Petras also made history as the first transgender woman to receive a Grammy when the duo Sam Smith and Kim Petras was awarded for their recent collaboration. Their track ‘Unholy’ received the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Collaboration.

  • Ben Affleck becoming the meme of the night:

The internet also got the new face of a meme from the ceremony and it was none other than Ben Affleck. He was on trending for his “miserable” expression when he attended the award with his wife Jennifer Lopez.
