The K-Pop’s popular MAMA Awards going to be held in Los Angeles and Japan. It is the very first time that the award show will take place in two venues.
MAMA Awards 2024 is going to take place in Los Angeles for the very first time. The award is going to start in LA even before expanding to Osaka, Japan for a two-day long event. Over the past few years, K-Pop is expanding more than ever and now it has become a globally renowned thing. The organizers have said that they have decided to keep performances on both sides of the Pacific Ocean for a significant reason. They have said that it is ‘a significant step towards broadening K-pop reach as well as connecting global K-pop fans across time zones’.
Now it is coming to know that the K-Pop’s MAMA Award will start in Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles on 21st November. The two-day ceremony will occur on the 22nd and 23rd of November in Kyocera Dome Osaka. It is known that in November, Japan will be 17 hours ahead of the United States. Thus, the award events will be nearly consecutive.
The organizers have declared the dates and venues of the award show but they haven’t announced the performing artists yet. Everyone expects that organizers will declare the performing artists soon. H.K.Shin, an authorized persona at CJ ENM has said ‘The 2024 edition of the MAMA AWARDS will have a wide array of K-pop performances with visuals and sounds that will make you feel as if you’re in another reality beyond space and time’.
When it comes to music award shows in Asia, things are quite larger than in other parts of the world. And the awards were first introduced by CJ ENM in 1999 with the music channel Mnet. Those were known as Mnet Asian Music Awards. The name remained the same for a long time and then in 2022, it was renamed.
Previously, it has been seen that the award has been hosted in countries like Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Japan, and Singapore. It is the very first time that the MAMA Awards are being hosted on the opposite side of the Pacific Ocean. CJ EMN plays a significant role in these K-Pop awards. It is also an integral part of KCON series of K-Pop conventions.
These have been conducted in international locations like Hong Kong and Los Angeles and Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany. There is also news that another KCON will be conducted in Saudi Arabia. However, no confirmed news has been declared. They have said ‘KCON Saudi Arabia is under discussion, and it has not been decided yet when it will be held’.
