Who had introduced you to the world of music and how did it turn out?

My pastor gave me the microphone at the age of 5 and once the congregation heard my voice they were blown away. From then on my pastor had me singing at special events and every Sunday my pastor recorded me and had me on the Sunday radio broadcast.

What has been your most thrilling and nail-biting moment so far?

My very first performance was Showcase, and I was at the beginning of the rotation. I was ridiculously nervous, I had to knock down a couple of shots to smoothen out lol. I met this awesome woman named Latoya who connected me with a phenomenal producer, KnuckleDaAce. When my name was called, I was in the bathroom and my heart sunk. I only ended up performing one out of three songs, but I murdered that performance. The feeling I got was like ecstasy, never took it, but I was infatuated with my ability to connect with the audience and display my music the way it was intended to be heard. At the end of the performance, DJ Dirty Dan met me at the end of the stage and gave me a heartfelt hug. At that moment I knew I was hooked. I received so much admiration to the point where I set the stage for the remaining artist.

What is your current ambition and what are you looking forward to?

I would have to say I can’t wait to work with artists like Beyonce, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Kyosiris, and Almighty Dutch, although I have a multitude of artists that I cant wait to work with in the future, those are particularly my top picks. Ultimately, Tina Turner has been a prolific female figure who I have been able to relate to within my life as a woman and an artist, where she has faced and overcame the life challenges and obstacles, she prevailed through. My first album “The Diva in Me,’ which the intro song is the Diva in Me. The Diva in my song is an overview of a past relationship, where I gave myself to someone who never saw me the way I saw him. Unfortunately, I dove in deep with him and poured my heart and soul into our relationship, but he was never able to be the man I need him to be. My core fans relate heavily because people can give their all to someone and they can’t and don’t reciprocate the same in return. The challenge for me was to pour out my emotions in this track and heal with the process of creating this song, and once that happened I was able to begin the healing; so many people dive into relationships and fall for someone who will never see and love them the way that they rightfully deserve to be treated. The top streaming song, to my surprise, was “George Floyd,” which for my fans was a bonus track, granted it was delivered in a timely fashion with current events of the Black Lives Matter movement. It was an exceptionally difficult time period for me to undergo the psychological trauma that mentally plagued me especially being a mother of two beautiful autistic children. I couldn’t bear to witness his pain during that tragic moment when he began calling out for his mother, instantly, my heart broke and I just wanted to reach out and hold him because I systemically in vision my children having to thrive in a corrupt environment like this. To all my fans, crazy fact, I heard a voice sing the song with me as I was recording!

What has been your most favorite or most memorable moment so far?

I met Baby T at a gas station and I was unaware that he was a former group member for Mo Billionaires, and he did a beat with Cash Money Records and showed me. He was blown away when I sang and rapped for him. He said something that stuck with me which was that my voice was very unique and different from other female artists in the industry. That lead to me amass the collection of music that I have out right now. One of my many favorites is “PRIME TIME, BEAST MODE, and ENVY.” Prime Time was one of my favorites because it was my first track I co-wrote with my partner Leo F., which, provided several challenges were I gained an understanding of critiques and criticisms. I allowed those critiques to build my ability to create beautiful music for my growing fan base. Through my affiliation with Baby T, he introduced me to B.O.B. Siy, which he is a straight freestyle recording artist. That sparked my creative mindset to undertake the challenge of mastering freestyling.

With so much going around, how do you stay focused on your work?

It’s a pandemic going on, so like many artists in the industry around the globe, I have had to adapt and overcome which allows me to transcend into the digital aspect of marketing and branding myself as a rising independent artist to continue to supplement my income. There has been an insurmountable amount of opposition to slow me down, but I have grown as a strong female woman and capitalized on this opportunity to expand my reach globally.

Who and what has been your inspiration to keep progressing no matter what?

My greatest inspiration to date has been myself, Tupac, and Tina Turner. My life has been full of obstacles and boundaries, which I learned to work with them.

How do you wish people to connect with you and what are the steps you take to ensure that?

Covid-19 has been a difficult turnout for people to adapt to not by choice, which unfortunately makes the transition a bit more frustrating. It has placed a damper on the old way of how things ran within the music industry, but the independent artist has been able to take advantage of the multitude of ways to promote themselves and their music to continue to flourish in this environment. What is kind of a double-edged sword is that this can possibly be the new normal, which would drastically, in my opinion, continue to affect the way artists in the industry intact with each other and most importantly their fans. This severs the physical connections and interactions with the core fan-based because the fans don’t have access to be a part of what artists use to build connections with their fans. Even though there have been alternatives, it is still too early to tell the lasting effects it may or may not have on an artist’s career especially as an independent artist who isn’t backed by major labels.

What are your thoughts on the kind of music being made lately and what would you like to change about that?

I would have to say the music industry has evolved and its audience has grown to accept all forms and fashions of creative mindsets. I would say for artists nowadays they can have a wider demographic than previously eras within the music industry. We got older artists still having the ability to be break artists and creating content that the newer generation has had positive responsiveness too. On top of the younger generation being able to explore within their own wave of demographics to become “overnight” success stories

On bad days how do you keep yourself motivated?

Continuingly developing myself physically in order to reach my weight goals, but I have grown to completely love myself and maintain my well-being. This life-altering career as an independent business owner and independent artist has allowed me to build thick skin through adversities and learn to place myself in a positive atmosphere. I have grown to love every curve I display and put out beautiful energy back into my surroundings with people I come in contact with.

How does it feel to complete your first anniversary as a successful female emerging artist?

I personally feel like I am chosen to make music, so I can be myself and express my creativity through my multifaceted abilities to be versatile with my audience. The materialist aspect is just a bonus outside of securing the necessary essentials for leading a foundation to build a nation.

Do you have any plans to go live in the future, if yes, with whom would you like to collaborate?

I would have to say Nicki Minaj currently, but artists like Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Queen Latifah, and the great MC Lyte paved the way. Vocalist/Singing wise I would have to say, Moriah Carey, because of the range she displays. Definitely, wouldn’t back down from the challenge, but without a doubt, Moriah would be the one to give me a run for my money.

What would you like to say to your fans?

Chicago, bar none. I have one of my playlists dedicated to my fans in Chicago with a growing number of around 40k streams and 20k followers.
