Q: Firstly, tell me about the name ‘Dre 05ive’ that you have chosen as your stage name.
Ans: Dre 05ive deprives me of the elements of my identity. My middle name is Kadre, so I pulled the Dre from there and I took the 05 out from my birth year. Had my own little stylization to it too.
Q: When you did first realize that music is the career that you want to pursue?
Ans: I remember being in class and the teachers asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I had to try and count all my talents off on my fingers and couldn’t find any. I was stuck in my head for about a year until this talent struck me overnight, ever since then it’s become more and more of a passion.
Q: Who has been the musical inspiration that has inspired you to embark upon this journey?
Ans: If I had to pick one, it’s Kanye West. My middle name was almost going to be Kanye instead of Kadre, so it was ironic that I grew up loving his music. From all of his projects, his 2000s reign, being from the chi, his evolution, and his documentary, I always clicked with Kanye. He was always a motivation for me.
Q: Being this young you have started your career; how does it feel to be appreciated by so many people?
Ans: The love definitely means a lot to me knowing that I’m 16 and I’m not going to do anything but get better. I feel like my potential is getting noticed more and more, and it’s good for me because I’m patient with my coming up.
Q: What are your plans for the future? Are there any new songs or albums that are going to be released soon?
Ans: I definitely got more videos and music drops coming very soon, along with some open mics. But I really just flow with time, y’all are definitely about to see how hungry I am.
Q: Are you willing to collaborate to go ahead in your music journey or would you rather stay individual?
Ans: I definitely got no issue collaborating, I got a love for networking. That’s gonna help me experiment with different sounds and different people on tracks, and we are all gon rise to the top together future. But the individuality is definitely gonna be there because I need everyone to know that I’m doing this off the muscle, on my own, n out of the mud.
Q: Are you willing to try any other genre apart from them once you are following them now?
Ans: I’m definitely ready to try some different genres already, but I feel like I need to find and solidify my sound more before I drift off into other lanes.
Q: Can you provide any tips that can be followed by other singers who are willing to start this musical journey?
Ans: Don’t wait on anybody, and do NOT be sensitive. Everyone is not going to react to your music how you want them to, some might dislike it, you just need to keep going. And when it’s time to stand on the business you need to make sure you can call on yourself before you can call on the guy to your right.
Q: Share something, a memory, or an incident that you had while filming this video or making this song ‘Rough Draft’?
Ans: So when I and my homies were at the shoot for Rough Draft, two drunk females came out and just Intruded the whole scene. One of them was geeking out talking about how much she loved what we were “doing for the neighborhood”. The other one was tryna protect the other drunk one, so she got to asking us questions about who we were and what we had going on. Once she realized that we were just handling business they were all for it, even gonna let us use their car. But we just wanted them gone so we said Nah, let them go about the business.
Q: Is there any show coming, in which you are performing?
Ans: March 31st at the forge, April 1st at the forge, April 8th at the Forge.
Q: Where your fans can find you and your musical works?
Ans: Type in Dre 05IVE on any platform and you’ll find everything for me. But mainly my Instagram, that’ll link you to everywhere you need to go. dre.05ive on IG.
Q: Say something dedicated to your fans.
Ans: I love y’all man for real. I’m confident but I can’t act like I don’t have my self-doubts about this journey I’m taking, but before I can get too deep in my head y’all are always there to lift my head up and help me keep going. We gon continue to grow as a family, this forever now.
