After a long hiatus of 7 years, the skilled rapper Apollo The Realist is now debuting his first ever full-length EP, entitled ‘Blood Moon’. The EP will be available on all digital media and music streaming platforms on April 7th. Since childhood, the auspicious artist was passionate about music, especially about making poetries and rhyming, which is why his rapping skills have been built in him since he was growing up. After the tragedy of an accident, the rapper made a successful comeback in his life and now it is going to be a successful comeback to the music industry. Inspired by life and the fear and struggles during the covid 19 pandemic, ‘Blood Moon’ is an exquisite piece of art soon to be available for the entire world to listen to. Recently the team of Daily Music Roll had the opportunity to sit with him and have a conversation. Let’s see how that went…
DMR: Welcome to Daily Music Roll Apollo. First of all, the heartiest congratulations on the EP, which will be released on April 7th. How are you feeling?
Apollo: Thank you, that means alot. I appreciate you for having me. I’m feeling a little anxious and nervous to be honest w you.
DMR: This is your comeback after a long hiatus of 7 years, what made you decide to come back to the music industry?
Apollo: Music has always been a big influence in my life and I knew that eventually I’d get back to it but it wasn’t until recent events that I gained more confidence to do so.
DMR: In this break of 7 years, were you completely detached from making music? Or are there tracks that were composed in this period that we will not hear in the EP?
Apollo: No I wasn’t entirely detached. I would often put emotions and the experiences I’ve had down in my notes as a way to cope with everything going on. I made quite a few songs during this break and they all won’t be on the EP but I hope to release a few of them as singles shortly.
DMR: In your life, you have had a tragic accident and escaped death. What would you like to say about that incident? Will we get a glimpse of what you felt like in any of the songs from your EP?
Apollo: First I’d like to say that I’m eternally grateful to still be here. I endured alot after my life was almost taken by a pick up truck back in 2015. It was a complicated experience but I persevered and I’m proud I made it this far. I don’t really talk much about it on the EP but I do discuss more about the situation on my single “Who I Used To Be.”
DMR: You have said seeing your older brother rapping has sparked a love for lyricism in you. But in life who inspired you to become an artist?
Apollo: My older brother (Young Fue) and artists like Tupac, Lil Wayne, Micheal Jackson and Eminem are few of the many who inspired me in life.
DMR: What was the process of making ‘Blood Moon’? Did you enjoy making all the tracks entirely or was there stress involved to make a successful comeback?
Apollo: The process was like a never-ending roller-coaster. Most of the tracks were products of my environment and produced from pain. It was a lil bit stressful but I really did enjoy making each and every one of these tracks.
DMR: Your debut EP, Blood Moon’ is said to have a wide range of topics. What do you have to say about that?
Apollo: There’s been alot going since the EPs concepts first surfaced in late 2021 and I wanted Blood Moon to address sensitive subjects, current events, and some of my own vulnerabilities.
DMR: Since the release of “What ls Life” to now soon to be released, ‘Blood Moon’, what was the journey like?
Apollo: The prolonged journey since then has been a challenging process. Some days were better than others, but every moment, and every experience was an eye opening lesson that I’m still learning from.
DMR: With your previous releases, you have found success in social media, and people seem to have showered your tracks with love and support. Do you feel pressured to maintain the same reaction with your next release as well?
Apollo: No, not really. I mean I’m a little nervous but I’m also excited to share my creative compositions with the world and get back to working on music. Any love and support gained since taking this path in music is valued forever and I’m grateful for everyone that listens.
DMR: Do you have any plans? What can we expect from you after the release of ‘Blood Moon’?
Apollo: Yeah actually I do. I plan to create a few visuals and work on getting some singles out to maintain a consistent release strategy and keep my fans captivated.
DMR: Does your next EP have any collaborations? lf not, who would be your dream collaborator?
Apollo: Kay9thadog and Antonia Marquee contributed to help make Blood Moon a reality and I truly appreciate them for their collaboration. It’d be a honor to work with J.cole, Kendrick Lamar Hopsin, Eminem or Lil Wayne. Any of those collaborations would be a dream come true.
DMR: What would you like to say to your fans?
Apollo: Although it’s been a wild journey, I’ve learned and grown throughout it all and I just want to say thank you to all of those who have supported me thus far. Ya’ll are really amazing! I’m grateful to each and every one of you for your unconditional affection and support. Because of you, I can continue to move forward and touch peoples lives, and I wish to inspire everyone else to do the same. I can’t thank you enough, really.
