Hi Minel! First of all, congrats on the success of your new music video ‘WE DO IT MAJOR’. You have always mentioned that you have focused on the difficulties that you had to overcome.

How have these incidents influenced the overall presentation of your tracks?
We do it major is a track that basically represents doing things in a big way to shine, flex and be extraordinary. To live life to the fullest and continue to keep winning against anyone that’s ever done you wrong. The song is a representation of coming from nothing to something and overcoming anything that you’ve been through or currently are going through to show people that it didn’t break you and that you’re winning now.

There are various elements present in this latest track of yours. How do you differentiate it from your previous tracks?
My first release was my intro that was an introduction of myself to the world to show my ability and lyricism and putting similes and metaphors together to paint and draw pictures through my lyrics telling a story. When we do it major is the lane I want to be known for; club bangers, vibe songs. All in all, I want my song to be played in the club and everyone turning up like “this is it”.
-
What do you want the audience to take away from this track as well as the video?
Have fun with whatever you’re going through and not to allow anything to hold you back and don’t let up on your joy.
-
What advice would you like to give to the aspiring musicians?
Find that spark that you believe can work and hold onto it, run with it until it works for you.
-
What inspired you in choosing this form of art?
I found something that I was good at, I connected with it and people connected with it and it helped structure my life. Day by day as I get bigger, I meet new people and learn more from my supporters, family, and friends.
-
What are your future plans?
To keep grinding until I make it to big stages and engage with larger crowds all over the world. I’m not after the fame, for me it’s to see stadiums filled with people scram my songs at the top of their lungs and have as much fun as I’m having. To connect with the world and send messages with people that have the same thoughts in their heart and hear it in my music and feel as though they’re living through me.
-
Will the audience be able to witness you perform live in 2020?
Yes, I’m planning a tour starting in the Philippines and eventually to Europe as well. I’ve also just made a few big connections in the UK market.
-
Whom do you look up to as an inspiration?
My doubters. The people that doubt me make me want to win even more. I feel the people that doubt you spark a flame and fuel your fire that eventually make you want to succeed. I believe your strengths come from your struggles.
-
What changes would you like to bring in to the music industry?
The only change I’d want to bring into the music industry is keeping the catchy choruses but have lyrical content as well as I feel this is lacking in the industry. I want to have relatable music that everyone can rock with, my music is universal and does not discriminate against any race or culture; a global sound.
-
Is there any artist with whom you would like to collaborate?
The first one would me Nicki Minaj since she discovered me. I recently recorded a song with Dave East that will be released in the summer of 2020. I would also like to work with Justin Bieber and Chris Brown.
-
How was your experience in working with Ikom Boy?
It was a good experience, coming from different cultures and yet connected heavily through the love of the music.
-
Is there something else you would like to tell the audience?
Anything is possible if you put your mind to it, always work harder than the situation that you’re currently in. Keep your circle small yet strong. I also learned a lot also through the loss of Kobe Bryant. He stood for living life to the fullest and not taking anything for granted and this is a motto we should all embody. Lastly, I’m currently working on a Kobe Bryant tribute that will be out very soon.
