Listen to the prolific song ‘Phone’ (duet) ft Mickey Shiloh by the immensely talented artist Nayan. This artist has gained a lot of attention with this track. He has shown his talent by making an enigmatic track. He works independently and makes all the soundscapes. Recently we got the opportunity to have a chat with him and this is how it went –
DMR: Hello, Mr. Raina, it is such an honor to talk to you. First of all, congratulations on your big success with the track ‘Phone’. Have you expected that it will be such a massive hit?
Nayan: Aww the pleasure is mine. Thank you for having me. Tbh, it’s not the first thing that comes to my mind.. I make music coz I love it.. it’s the best way to express myself and if I’m able to entertain a few people.. I’m happy
DMR: How did you come up with the concept for the track?
Nayan: I was in the studio with my producer John Ho (who has worked with the likes of Demi Lovato, Jaden Smith… ) trying to come up with something new.. and we thought this concept could be extremely relatable. We’re on the phone 24/7.. be it work related or personal stuff.. and how we’re always craving to hear from our loved ones.. so why not? Lol.
DMR: What has inspired you to make this song?
Nayan: My love for music inspires me everyday.. This feeling keeps me on a high..
DMR: You are an independent musician, how do you manage all the work alone?
Nayan: Easy.. it gives me creative freedom.
DMR: Would you like to try your hands on different genres of music?
Nayan: Of course.. I’ve already done R&B ( Butter) Pop/Rock ( DrNkTeXtIn) Latin Pop ( Besame) and HipHop (Phone) I wanna do an EDM/ Dance composition
DMR: What has encouraged you to become an artist?
Nayan: Ever since I was little.. I used to perform in school and in church choirs.. then I auditioned for NBC TV Show ‘America’s Got Talent’ live at the ‘Orpheum Theater’ in Downtown LA for celebrity judges – Sharon Osbourne, David Hasselhoff and Piers Morgan. That was huge for me. See.. Its not one thing.. Many of them.. Other artists.. Radio… nature inspires you and your relationship.. your lifestyle.. your creative mind.. they all push you to create.
DMR: If you were not a musician then what career path would you have chosen?
Nayan: I’ll be a chef.. I love cooking lol.
DMR: Are you trying on any new projects right now?
Nayan: Yes.. Too many.. first and foremost is my up coming single ‘LOVIN’ its in English and Punjabi. My first one. Followed by a Bollywood EP. I’m also doing multiple songs with Grammy nominated platinum producer Yonni who has worked with the likes of Justin Bieber, Trey Songz, Little Wayne and Fergie to name a few…
DMR: When will you release your next song?
Nayan: Dec 2022. It’s called LOVIN. Its a bollywood banger I can tell you that lol.
DMR: Are you planning to do any show or concert in recent time?
Nayan: Absolutely.. Early 2023. Once all the lineups are ready.. and I can’t wait.
DMR: Would you like to share your journey so far?
Nayan: It’s been amazing and it seems like I’m just getting started. I had great success with Butter in 2016. The song got Radio play next to the likes of Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd and Calvin Harris on Kiss FM Radio in the east coast but then personal tragedies ( losing both of my parents back to back) broke me into pieces. But I’m getting back up.. stronger than ever..
DMR: Any message you would like to give to your fans?
Nayan: Never give up.. Keep at it.. whatever you’re passionate about and doors will start opening up. If you love something so much.. you will get it.. eventually.
