Eminent Nigerian singer-songwriter Mr. Feel is back with another round of a brilliant acoustic adventure with his upcoming music plans. He is all set to drop another hit single, ‘On Guard’ on major streaming platforms on February 18th this year. He has showcased a brilliant blend of Afro-pop and Afro-fusion in the song making it a highly versatile melody that fills the hearts of the listeners with joy. The rising artist has recently sat with us answering questions for our interview.
Hello Mr. Feel! Best wishes for your upcoming release. Here are questions that will give the audience a clear idea about your music and satisfy their curiosity:
DMR: Where are you from and how does it impact your music?
A: I’m from the Eastern part of Nigeria. Growing up in Enugu State life had its ups down. Poverty and hardship was something I saw and delt with on a daily basis. My music comes from my heart. It express every emotion I have ever felt, like love, joy, sorrow faith, gratitude, patience and peace just to name a few.
DMR: What kind of a song is, ‘On Guard’, and which musical genres influenced its creation?
A: On Guard’ is influenced by Afrobeat beats. It is a reflection of my life’s struggles. Where I was then, where I am now and where I am going.
DMR: When are you going o release it and is there any reason why you will be dropping the track that day?
A: On guard will be released on 18th February 2022. I chose that date because the lyrics of On Guard reflects on what I was going threw when I was 18 years old.
DMR: We heard it is a part of an upcoming EP. Can you tell us more about the EP?
A: The name of my EP is “The Rising” it consist of 7 songs. The number 7 represents completeness and perfection I was extremely particular about the songs I chose, the art work, the artist I collaborated with just to give you an example. Every song is extraordinary and has its own rhythm and meaning, It definitely caters to the masses. This EP not only represents me, it represents Nigeria. It is my goal to show the world that Nigeria is filled with endless talents. (We only need one chance) All i can say about my upcoming Ep “The Rising” is get gready for a wonderful extraordinary sound.
DMR: Tell us about your vocal performance in the song. Did you experiment or use any new style or technique for singing?
A: I just used my voice. The style was all natural.
DMR: What types of instruments were used to create the mesmerizing melody of the single?
A: The wonderful instrument used in creating this melody was my voice.
DMR: When did you start singing and what was your first recorded song. How did it do in the contemporary music scene?
A: I started signing when I was 14. The very first song I recorded was “Why” it was a party jam and was well received
DMR: Name some of your best-performing songs?
A: Some of my best party songs are “Holy Water”, Fast life, Vibes and every song on my EP “The Rising”
DMR: Which musicians were your influences growing up? Do you use their inspiration in your music?
A: Some of the Artist who influenced me growing up was Femi Kuti,Katie, King Sunny Ade. I also enjoy Tekno, WizKid, Davido just to name a few.
DMR: Are you working independently or in a production house?
A: I work independently and for now I am enjoying it.
DMR: What more can we expect from you in the near future?
A: In the future you can expect to hear continued release of music with its unique rhythm and sound.
DMR: What message would you like to give to your fans?
A: I am also working on a video for my single “On Guard” and I’m having a blast in the process. All in all im just grateful to be where I am in my career and give thanks and praise to the most high. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share a little bit of myself to the world. Thank you.
