Clinching to music since a very young age, rapper Yung Gecko has always found himself surrounded by music, especially the hip-hop genre and the young artist is now frosting his name with special titles for maximum impact. ‘Spain’ is the latest hip-hop project dropped by the artist where he has showcased impeccable versatility in his performance style to hook the audience completely. His special knowledge in piano has allowed him to sharpen his production fluency and the artist is doing commendable work when it comes to walking up the ladder of success. Having a strong debut this year, he is surely gearing up for more accomplishments in the future.
Recently our team had the chance of sharing a short conversation with the artist and he was quite enthusiastic about sharing his journey with us. Read below to learn some unheard details.
1. Hello, your latest single ‘Spain’ is receiving a positive response from the crowd, how do you feel about it?
I am very delighted that people are enjoying my music! I believe that this single was my best release to date and its numbers back up my claim.
2. What was your true motive behind the production of this song?
During the peak of the coronavirus pandemic there was not much to do but sit at home and I wanted to encapsulate the struggles everyone was facing in song form.
3. Who or what has been your consistent source of inspiration?
I am very self-motivated and I find inspiration in setting goals for myself and always finding ways to achieve them.
4. You have always sound solace in music, since when did you decide to pursue your career in music?
I was always interested in music at a young age, I started the saxophone in 4th grade and piano in 5th grade. In high school I became interested in rap and hip-hop, but not until my senior year did I begin seriously releasing music.
5. How do you want your audience to relate to your music?
Everything in my music is truthful and I hope for my audience to relate to my hardships and use my lyrics as inspiration to overcome roadblocks which are holding them back from success.
6. Do you believe in experimenting with your style or simply go-with-the-flow?
I really enjoy experimenting with my style and seeing how far I can push the boundaries of my vocal capabilities. To continue growing as a musician, I need to try things I have never done before and make the uncomfortable, comfortable.
7. What is your most memorable moment so far?
My most memorable moment so far is receiving a direct message on instagram from someone who listened to my single ‘Time’ and was touched by the lyrics after a close family member had died.
8. Any plan of going live in the future?
I hope to perform in concerts once the current coronavirus pandemic is over and everything has returned to normal.
9. What do you think lacks or is missing in the current hip-hop landscape?
I think originality is missing in hip-hop. Many artists try copying styles of other musicians instead of making their own unique content. Everyone has something special to offer and by not being different, artists are saturating the music industry with the same type of music without experimenting with new styles.
10. What distinguishes your music from the others?
My music is not similar to any other artist, each song I release is its own distinct and original creation. I try to seperate myself from the styles of other artists as I want my listeners to enjoy my music for its individualistic characteristics.
11. During bad days, how do you gather up your spirit and enthusiasm?
I am very optimistic and I always try to look at the positive side of things. If there are bad days, there are good days to come, if you fail, then success is up ahead.
12. Would you like to share any special messages with your fans and followers?
I am releasing a new single on April 9th! Stay tuned to hear it as I will be posting updates on my instagram @officialyunggecko
