How did you venture into the musical arena and when did it all start?
My Aunt introduced me to my love for R&B when I was very young and I started writing original songs when I was 13. I guess I’ve always had a love for music as far back as I could remember
-
Is there any specific skill you possess that sets you apart from your contemporary musicians?
I don’t think so unless you count my work ethic as a skill. I think that’s what truly sets me apart. That and my willingness to learn how the business actually works.
-
Any legends of music whom you worship as an idol and prompted you to take the plunge?
Brandy is and will always be my idol. Her music directly affects my sound today.
-
Do you have any regrets in your chequered career which you want to change given a chance?
Not at all. Everything that has happened has to lead me to this point in my life and my career. I’m happy with where I am and I might not have been here if anything was to be done differently.
-
Are you looking forward to collaborating with any singer for any joint projects in the future?
Yes! I can’t say too much but you’ll definitely be getting more collaborations from me in 2020!
-
Do you give enough importance to your personal life given the fact that you are a popular musician and do not find sufficient time to spend with the family?
I use to not, but now I’ve learned to make that time to recharge, and spend time with the people I care about.
-
Can you name any talented musician from the present whom you envy the most?
Not really. I genuinely get excited when I see other musicians prosper. So I wouldn’t call it envy. Seeing others succeed in this industry gives me joy.
-
Recording songs or live shows, which one gives you the most thrill?
Live shows! Don’t get me wrong I love recording, but sometimes it’s can be so organized. I love it when I can just go off the deep end and sing like there’s no tomorrow.

The world is going through tumultuous times right now. Does the ongoing situation find a place in your songs?
Yes. Recently I released a track exclusively on SoundCloud called “land of the free”. It’s about being black in America. And the paranoia that comes with it.
