29MCK is a name that has provided songs with exceptional honest vocals with intensive works and words against the pseudo and dramatic ways of making music. Engaging in something that should not and must not be sold, even in form of music, they took the responsibility to raise their voice against these depreciating aspects of music-making.
The song ‘Famous’ is a truthful version of their vivid intention without making the song preachy they have incorporated the quirk and humor to engage and compel their audience into their music. With happy faces making impressive impressions of life and the world around. They are extremely therapeutic to witness.
DMR: Why you have chosen the name ‘29MCK’? Is there any story behind it?
29MCK: I normally go by the stage name Deuce Nine (29), my associate in some of the older videos in M.C Knowles (MCK), Woodz came in at a later date. I’ve thought about changing it but fuck it!
DMR: When you meet each other and share the story about forming this band.
29MCK: I met Mike (MCK) back in 2002, though a friend that we don’t fuck with anymore cause humans to be filthy. Met Woodz through the loop, good people (loyal) people are hard to come by.
DMR: What is the musical ambition that you are willing to achieve with your extremely well-balanced craft?
29MCK: Whatever achievements the universe is going to allow I suppose, I’m no pusher, I’m here to speak my mind and that’s an achievement in itself
DMR: Share a story that is associated well with your latest track ‘Famous’.
29MCK: I just browse around and see a lot of people getting famous or some notoriety off of doing something dumb as fuck, if more people used their popularity to do good for the human race, maybe this place wouldn’t be so backward. I feel that our current society needs a revamp and this whole “me” movement needs to crash and burn.
DMR: What are you working on right now new track or we will be having a full-length album?
29MCK: The full length came out in 2021, “Defy Your Existence” is available on all platforms. I’m just making music as I can, I don’t rush, I don’t force… when it hits me is when I get in the studio.
DMR: The intention to restrain yourself from depicting personal losses in your songs is very rare to witness, is there any particular reason behind this decision?
29MCK: Well, I hear a lot of artists talk about their struggles, their heartache, their “horrible past”, It’s become cliché, and how exaggerated are these said stories? I’ve seen a lot in my years around the sun, we all have, in all different ways so why try and single out my experience? Do people actually want to hear what comes out of this fucked up brain? People that know me, they know…. That’s all I have to say.
DMR: According to you which is the best song that you have made by far?
29MCK: I don’t play favorites, haha. Every song I put out feels like my best work cause every time I’m in the studio I’m learning, changing, and getting better at what I do. So the songs are just going to keep getting better in my eyes.
DMR: Why a break of three years?
29MCK: To pursue other opportunities, I joined up with the band Dead Atlantic as a guitarist, got a couple of tours under my belt, and played some really amazing music. It’s about the experience for me, life is short so experience all that you can! Also, my regular job (yes, we musicians still need regular jobs) is a bit demanding but I balance out everything as well as I can. Plus, sometimes you need a break, I like camping and being in nature as much as I can, it helps ease the negativity in my mind.
DMR: Would you like to say something for all the music artists who are willing to pursue this career?
29MCK: Don’t get your hopes up. The music industry is a whole different beast these days, it will destroy you, swallow you up and spit you out in a ditch full of shit. DIY everything! Save your money, Be real with yourself and don’t try and fake it to make it get where you think you wanna be. Music isn’t for everyone but anyone can have fun with it, just always watch your back, be careful of marketing schemes online, fuck facebook and Tik Tok.
DMR: What are the most challenging difficulties that you have faced in your musical journey?
29MCK: First and foremost I would have to say Death, she’s a real bitch when you meet her but when you get a second chance, you don’t waste it. Imagine waking up from a coma and re-learning just about everything, Now imagine short and long-term memory loss… Imagine having to learn to walk again at the age of 19? I hate bragging but I will say I have been through a lot, it’s given me a different perception, I don’t sweat the small shit, hell I barely sweat the big shit. I’m just living, that’s all I can do but I will never chase paper down a dark alley with advertisements in every back yard. Life is difficult, I’m here to help ease your minds.
DMR: Tell us about your upcoming shows or tours that you have planned already.
29MCK: I’ve got a worldwide tour in the works as we speak, 191 countries in 210 days, its gonna be a failure but I’m totally cool with that! I’m starting this new idea on shows, I call them “Studishows” Basically, When 29MCK are in the studio, banging out bangers that no one might listen to, We invite a shitload of people and do live performances of some songs, Nothing too prolonged and then we blaze that shit up and party till everyone is ready to leave. It’s a good time!
DMR: Say something dedicating your fans.
29MCK: To all the 30some fans who bought my album, Thank you! It’s incredible that those select few would be interested in what I have to say. Backstage passes for each and every one of you! To the other 8 billion or so who haven’t listened to my music… FUCK OFF!!!!!!!! Bahahahahahahaaha But for real, I hope that one day you become unblinded to the mainstream music scene that is washing your brain song by song, where the artists pose as someone you want them to be but behind closed doors they are just there to take your mind and fuck your mind. Here at 29MCK, feelings get hurt here but maybe it’s those feelings that needed to be hurt in order to move past whatever it was you were stuck on? Think about it…
