The renowned musical group Reaction Feed has been winning over the house for quite a time now. Their music speaks highly on behalf of the talents of the group members. Each and every member of the group has contributed to the exponential growth of the team.
Connor Schnuit (vocalist/guitarist), Luke Morrow (lead guitarist/backing vocalist), Brenden Loska (bassist), and Joel Nathan (drummer) – each member are gems of the music industry as they are set to rock the stage in the near future.
Following the release of their famous new EP ‘Haze’, we got the chance of interacting with the group members. The members shared their musical journey, talked about their musical creations, and whether they have something in the store or not. Here is the complete conversation.
First of all, congratulations on the success of this latest EP of yours and best wishes for the upcoming projects. The fans have loved this brand new project and seem like they just cannot get enough of it.
Tell us something about your musical journey so far.
One of the coolest things that we’ve been able to do so far is getting to play the El Corazon in Seattle where I’ve seen so many of my favorite bands. That and going into a studio to record our songs were both awesome surreal moments.
What is the history of this group how did you guys meet and come up with the idea of forming this band?
Well, I met our lead guitarist Luke through Facebook because he liked the Knuckle Puck sweatshirt in my profile picture. And it took a few years before we really tried starting something. In January of 2019, we started jamming with our friend Justin on the drums. And then our bassist Brenden who was my coworker at the time started jamming with us. Not long after that Justin decided it wasn’t for him so we were without a drummer. It looked bleak for a few months until we realized in a beast behind the kit named Joel. He had just moved up here from New Zealand. And we played our first show a month later!
What are the future plans for the band?
As soon as we can get out and about again we are going to do a music video for either Haze or Around The Bend. We’re going to collaborate with Dirty Shirley Productions for that. After that, we are going to start pitching ourselves to some record labels. We definitely want to just keep making songs and getting better as musicians.
How do you counter the pressure of expectations and self-satisfaction?
That’s a great question for me it’s knowing that you put everything you could into something before it’s released. You want to keep expectations high but you’ll always be most critical of your own art.
The vocal performance is stunning in each of the tracks of Haze and at the same time, the instrumentation and sound design charge up the ambiance. Which element attracts you to craft a song initially – the vocal performance, the instrumentation, or the lyricism?
Thank you! Usually, we write off of a riff idea someone brings to practice, and as we jam it things start happening and we either get excited about it or we don’t. I’ll usually pull lyrics from my notes that are prewritten and have them fit the melody of the song.
What made you choose Where I Reside as the first tracks of this EP?
Where I Reside had to be the opener because it’s so in your face and high energy.. it just lets you know that something big has arrived.
Which artist/artists have inspired you the most?
My biggest inspirations for songwriting are bands like Brand New, Citizen, and Trophy Eyes. Brand New has some of the best lyricism of all time, in my opinion. I’ve been influenced by so many artists it’s hard to choose haha.
Will the fans see you performing live in the near future?
As soon as concerts are allowed again we will be out and about playing shows in the Seattle area as much as possible. We are hoping to do a small tour here soon.
Is there any musical project you guys are working on right now?
We’ve begun writing new tracks for our next release which will most likely be another EP or 2. Our bassist Brenden recently started making beats and they are really good I’ve heard a few tracks.
With which artist would your guys like to collaborate?
Well, we haven’t been able to practice for a month since this virus came on so if I could collaborate with my own band again that’d be nice haha.. but if I could work with Will Toledo from Car Seat Headrest on something that would be insane.
Are there any changes that you would like to bring in to the music industry?
I’d like to bring back the importance of organic live performances. No backing tracks just natural live talent. It’s Always better that way.
Is there anything else that the fans should know?
We will be around for a while so get used to us. And you can follow is everywhere @reactionfeedwa. Thank you!
