Travis Antonio Gardner, known professionally as Tonio Armani is making a fairly deep impression on this world of music with his greatly narrated and impressively made numbers. With the gravitating soundscapes along with the enchanting narration, he is claiming the ladder of success based on his sheer talents and honest music releases. His latest one ‘All Night Long’ is an impressively made number that shows his true potential to make music.
DMR: Congratulations Tonio Armani, on your latest release, it is a treat to experience. Would you like to share something about this track in particular?
Tonio Armani: When I hear this song, it reminds me of being at home in the backyard with the ones I love. My father used to play these types of songs for the family on Sundays. Blues was the only genre we were allowed hear on Sunday (Lol) and I just want to bring back those feelings again. It’s that vibe you know, it’s that feeling of being with family and enjoying the time together. It’s the great memories for me so, I hope that this does the same thing for my fans.
DMR: How will you describe your career prior to ‘Armani’, you have mentioned you have worked with various international stars. Care to tell more on that.
Tonio Armani: Yea I did! Being a rapper, it was cool and all but the stuff that they had to deal with behind the scenes, stuff they have to deal with being a rapper, as I grew older, I started to realize the rapper image is not what I wanted to represent for my brand and for my family. So therefore, I went from being a rapper to doing R&B and Blues which is a better fit for me. I would say it’s a journey learning the business and maturing. I saw that I was touching people with my words but when I started singing, I started singing and touching people with my voice and when I saw the impact of singing and writing the records, I put more energy into making those and it’s leading me to where I’m at today.
DMR: Your track is truly making a great impact on every music lover. Who has been your inspiration for this journey of music?
Tonio Armani: My inspiration for music is the legendary Al Green. Just watching him make his music, you can tell he feels his music. He makes you feel it as well, and it feels good! And that’s what I call my genre of music, feel good music.
DMR: Share a memory that has a connection with your latest release ‘All Night Long’?
Tonio Armani: I remember I was doing a show in North Carolina, and I did not perform this song. So we took a break to pray and afterwards we sang “All Night Long” acapella outside. And that was what broke the song; singing with people that actually love being around me. And I went viral on TikTok which opened up new lanes and doors for Tonio Armani.
DMR: Who comes to mind first when you hear the phrase “Dream Collaboration”?
Tonio Armani: Al Green, Charlie Wilson, The Isley Brothers, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Ludacris, T pain, Chris Brown, Mary J Blige These are my dream collaborations. I would love to work with any of these amazing artist because they helped me become Tonio Armani
DMR: Apart from music, what is the most common thing that you adore doing in your leisure?
Tonio Armani: I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy watching them grow and I enjoy being an impact in their lives. I actually take joy in watching it and watching the things that I do help them to be better than what I was. One of my favorite things in the world is being a father. And I want to see my kids grow up to be better than me
DMR: When did you realize that music is your passion and you want to follow it for the rest of your life?
Tonio Armani: Coming up I remember I was singing to a woman out the window of her car and I watched her go from a woman to a little girl right in front of me. She curled up, she balled up and everything about her changed when she heard my voice. That’s what I love to do. I love to see the change in people. When I’m not singing, people just look at me, but when they hear me singing, it changes how they look at me. It’s one of the most powerful things I believe I have as a person, is this voice. When I see the effects of how it touches people in various ways good and bad. I touch the people even more when it comes from a place of pain. They can feel the pain in my voice, they can feel the soul, they can feel that it’s coming from a place that only the people that’s dealing in their life and situations can feel.
DMR: What should be the mindset of aspiring artists to deal with the daunting competition of this industry?
Tonio Armani: You got to understand that this is not a race, it’s a marathon. To be honest, you can’t wear your feelings on your sleeve. This is a tough business, and you have to stay working to find ways to be heard. it’s not always by singing, it’s about what you do and who you know, not what you say. But I am blessed to be able to do what I love everyday
DMR: As a successful musician what has been your mantra to keep your zen and continue on this path?
Tonio Armani: Staying positive and appreciating the small wins. Setting small goals to create bigger goals. What I mean by that is being strategic about what I’m planning to do. When I see that come to life it’s very rewarding. When I reach my goals, I feel like I achieved something in life.
DMR: Are working on any projects right now? If yes, then would you like to share something about it?
Tonio Armani: Yes, I’m working on new music. It’s the same vibe between old school and new school. I think all the best music was inspired by music from an earlier time and a lot of it I’m just learning as I do my research. But I want to give the people of my generation what they had back in the day with a little feel of today’s sound. That’s my secret weapon, mixing the old with the new.
