Emerging independent music artist Shushu is winning the hearts of her listeners again with the latest song ‘Ya Lely’. With her musical journey progressing at full throttle, she is looking forward to offering more exciting music projects in the coming days. She is a talented singer and a songwriter who is paving her way towards to success. Let’s find out more about this talented music artist, in her own words.
DMR. Congratulations on the release of ‘Ya Lely’. What are your personal views on this project?
Shushu: Thank you very much! I’m very excited, it’s a new song and a new vibe for me, I enjoyed working on this song very much, starting from recording till making the video clip.
DMR. How did the concept behind this track come into your mind? Is it a self-reflection?
Shushu: Yes, the song “Ya Lely” is a reflection of my own thoughts and what I have done to reach a better place in my life, It’s a reflection of many of us, who want to reache places in thier life and transfer their ceiling into their own floor.
DMR. You have already dropped a handful of tracks. How are you enjoying your musical journey so far?
Shushu: Writing songs is my passion and what makes me feel connected to myself, I’m enjoying every moment of it and working on myself to be better.
DMR. Do you find any obstacles in this modern music industry?
Shushu: Yes, we are a lot of artists, and when there are too many options of songs and artists with sponsors, it’s hard to get heard or stand out even if you have an amazing talent.
, I appreciate good music even if it’s not a famous song.DMR. How did your knack for music and writing develop?
Shushu: I started writing songs at a very young age, I liked, and still like, the idea of making words rhyme and creating melody, but what it makes it great for me, is that it can tell a story, a feeling you are struggling to explain, a state of mind not just random words together.
DMR. Name us some of your creative influences who helped you pursue music.
Shushu: My family were my inspiration, my uncle is a great musician and Arabic songwriter who influenced me a lot when I was young with his beautiful songs that talk to children to elevate their minds.
I’m inspired by people who made it with pure talent like Ed Sheeran, love his music and there are many like Dieter Bohlen and The script.
DMR. With your solo endeavors, would you like to collaborate with other artists in the future?
Shushu: Many great artists have collaborated with other artists, I think it’s a great idea and it’s even greater when the artist has already found their way and who they are as an artist.
DMR. Are you working on some upcoming projects? Please shed some light.
Shushu: Yes, I’m working on a new song and I’m very excited. I will let you know once it’s ready.
DMR. Along with your songwriting skills and you have great vocals as well. How do you like to craft your songs? Music first or lyrics?
Shushu: Thank you very much, I’m always working on my vocals and my breath. People ask me what comes first, melody or lyrics, I would say, one word comes first, and then the melody, and then the rest of the words!
DMR. Being a role model for many, what tips would you like to give to the emerging music artists in the scene?
Shushu: I have learnt that it’s not the practice makes perfection, but the continues practice makes perfection. The key to success is to continue doing what you want to do and never give up, believe in yourself, and be the biggest fan of your music.
DMR. Other than music, do you have any other ventures?
Shushu: I love Arabic voice-over! It’s my other passion.
